Job Duties:

  • Lead the design and development of next-generation spacecraft avionics systems by collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Drive technical decisions related to the acquisition, integration, and lifecycle of avionics systems for spacecraft.
  • Oversee system requirements, make/buy evaluations, and cost/risk assessments for avionics projects.
  • Direct a team of embedded flight software engineers, electrical designers, and EGSE (Electronic Ground Support Equipment) specialists.
  • Design, develop, and certify avionics test racks, including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) platforms.
  • Develop and test digital and analog circuits, managing signal integrity for systems such as DI, DO, AI, AO, and communications protocols like RS-422, Ethernet, USB, and SPI.
  • Manage fault detection and responses across electronics, flight software, and spacecraft components.


Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in spacecraft avionics design, development, and integration, with a record of success in fast-paced environments.
  • Proven background in end-to-end development of avionics hardware, including integration, testing, and mission operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of space environments, with experience designing for radiation hardness and reliability.
  • Strong understanding of failure modes in spaceflight electrical systems and experience with space-qualified electronic components.
  • Experience with spacecraft flight software architecture and engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects under tight timelines.
  • Skilled in developing systems for mission-critical and safety-sensitive applications.

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with hardware design for spacecraft operating in harsh space environments.
  • Experience with FPGA programming.
  • Proven track record in avionics system certification and compliance within regulated industries.
  • Expertise in leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams and in cross-functional project management.

Security Clearance

  • Must be able to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance

Compensation Details:

$200,000+
