Chief of Staff - Be the Executive Team's Force Multiplier at a Growing Space Company

El Segundo, CA | On-site

Opportunity Summary

We are a venture-backed space company with active government contracts, and we are hiring a Chief of Staff to work across our executive team. You will drive fundraising preparation, business development and capture, recruiting, and day-to-day operations, and you will take ownership of whatever matters most that week.

This role suits a driven operator with business training, ideally an engineering foundation, and a real passion for space. You will sit in the company's most important conversations and have a direct hand in how it grows.

About Us

We are a seed-stage, venture-backed aerospace company in the Los Angeles area developing plasma propulsion that lets satellites stay in lower orbits for longer and maneuver far more freely than they can today. Our work is funded by venture investors and multiple Department of Defense and federal research contracts, and we are moving from lab prototypes toward our first flight hardware for national security and commercial customers.

Job Duties

  • Partner with the CEO and other executives to set priorities and drive cross-functional initiatives to completion
  • Prepare fundraising materials, including pitch decks, financial models, data rooms, and investor updates, and help manage the investor pipeline
  • Support government capture by tracking opportunities across DoD, Space Force, AFRL, and DIU, and coordinating SBIR/STTR, OTA, and BAA proposals
  • Help develop commercial partnerships with satellite operators and launch providers, including white papers and capability statements
  • Coordinate recruiting, from hiring plans and interview loops to offers and onboarding
  • Run the operating rhythm: leadership meetings, goals and KPIs, and board meeting preparation
  • Oversee contracts administration, vendors, facilities, and compliance tasks alongside outside accounting and legal partners
  • Lead special projects as the company scales

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physical sciences, business, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in startup operations, management consulting, business development, investment banking, venture capital, or aerospace and defense program roles
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and writing skills
  • Ability to turn technical concepts into clear narratives for investors, customers, and government stakeholders
  • Comfort supporting multiple executives and juggling competing priorities
  • Self-starter who takes ownership and follows through without being asked
  • Passion for the space industry
  • U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Preferred Experience

  • MBA
  • Engineering degree or prior technical work experience
  • Experience with government contracting, SBIR/STTR awards, or proposal writing
  • Exposure to venture fundraising or board management
  • Prior experience at a Seed or Series A startup
  • Network across the space, defense, or venture community

Why Join Us

  • Work side by side with multiple C-suite executives on the company's biggest decisions
  • Broad exposure to fundraising, capture, hiring, and operations, with a fast path into senior leadership
  • Join a mission-driven team bringing a new space capability to national security and commercial customers
  • Meaningful early-stage equity
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k), and unlimited paid time off
