Opportunity Summary

A well-funded manufacturing startup is building a software-driven foundry that delivers precision metal castings to aerospace, defense, and industrial customers far faster than traditional suppliers. Every machine, operator, and production job depends on the software platform that ties the factory together.

You will own that platform. This role builds the backend services, databases, and tooling that connect machines and workflows, and owns the build systems, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure that keep both the software team and the factory running. You will report to the CTO and work on-site alongside the people who rely on your systems.

About Us

We are an early-stage, well-capitalized advanced manufacturing startup rebuilding domestic metal casting capacity for aerospace, defense, and energy customers. Backed by leading venture firms and strategic aerospace and defense investors, the company has a production foundry up and running, is shipping parts to customers, and plans to bring additional foundries online as demand grows. The founding team comes from top commercial space and metal additive manufacturing companies, and every employee works on-site, close to the physical process.

Job Duties

• Build backend services, databases, and internal tools that support day-to-day factory operations
• Develop software for workflow automation, job setup, scheduling, and production execution
• Integrate internal systems with machines, operator tools, and external platforms
• Design reliable data capture for process data, machine logs, inspection results, and operator input
• Own build systems, CI/CD pipelines, deployment, AWS resources, and developer tooling
• Write C++ for backend systems, automation, data processing, and manufacturing orchestration
• Work with manufacturing, process engineering, and operations to turn production pain points into software

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong programming skills in modern C++ (C++17), which will be your primary language
• Hands-on infrastructure experience with build systems such as CMake, CI/CD pipelines, containers, and running services in production
• Experience building backend systems, automation tools, or technical internal tools
• Strong debugging and systems-level thinking
• Comfortable working where requirements are loosely defined
• Interest in manufacturing, hardware, or physical processes, and willingness to work on-site
• U.S. person status (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) required under ITAR

Preferred Experience

• Cloud deployment on AWS, containerization, or batch compute
• Time-series databases, Postgres, data modeling, or analytics pipelines
• Exposure to MES platforms, factory automation, or sensor, machine log, and IoT data
• Internal platforms or workflow automation systems
• Python experience
• Early-stage startup experience

Compensation Details

$150,000 - $190,000 + equity
