This is a hands-on role for someone who loves crafting clear, compelling proposals and working side by side with founders who are building technologies that matter. In this position, you’ll support multiple fast-growing startups advancing space, defense, and dual-use capabilities. You’ll be responsible for shaping proposals from the ground up, drafting technical narratives, compliance documents, and pricing justifications, while collaborating directly with engineering and leadership teams to bring their ideas to life. Job Duties
- Lead full lifecycle proposal development, from opportunity assessment to final submission, for government and commercial bids.
- Draft, edit, and structure technical and management volumes that clearly communicate value, capability, and compliance.
- Partner directly with startup founders, engineers, and BD leads to translate technical concepts into clear, persuasive language.
- Manage document flow, schedules, and compliance matrices to ensure deadlines and solicitation requirements are met.
- Coordinate letters of support, CRADAs, teaming agreements, and customer memorandums to strengthen proposals.
- Develop pricing narratives, milestone schedules, and budget rationales in collaboration with client teams.
- Support debriefs and lessons-learned efforts to improve future submissions and capture approaches.
- Contribute to client visibility efforts, including summaries for investors and proposal-related press announcements.
- Maintain templates, style guides, and proposal archives for consistency and reusability across clients.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience writing or managing proposals for aerospace, defense, or government technology programs.
- Proven track record winning government or commercial awards (SBIR/STTR, BAAs, CRADAs, etc.).
- Direct experience supporting or working with early-stage or venture-backed companies.
- Strong understanding of federal acquisition processes, solicitation structures, and evaluation criteria.
- Exceptional writing and editing ability, with a clear, concise, and persuasive communication style.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel for proposal formatting, data tables, and presentations.
- Comfortable working across time zones and adapting to the speed and ambiguity of startup environments.
Preferred Experience
- Technical degree or background in engineering, physics, or a related field.
- Experience writing proposals in emerging domains such as autonomy, propulsion, spacecraft, or advanced manufacturing.
- Familiarity with dual-use funding programs and defense innovation pathways.
- Previous collaboration with founders or small technical teams to develop proposal-ready content.

Compensation Details
$110,000 - $150,000 + bonus and comission
