As an Applications Engineer, you will work directly with customers and internal engineering teams to develop, integrate, test, and deploy robotic automation solutions. You will translate customer requirements into functional applications, work across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software systems, and validate performance on real hardware. This is a hands-on role offering significant technical ownership, direct customer engagement, and the opportunity to support robotic systems from initial development through deployment and ongoing optimization.

Job Duties

• Translate customer requirements into technical specifications, engineering objectives, and executable project plans for robotic automation applications.
• Develop, integrate, and validate robotic systems for precision manufacturing and industrial automation processes.
• Work across mechanical, electrical, software, controls, and sensing disciplines to deliver fully integrated automation solutions.
• Integrate and configure sensors, motion control components, and measurement equipment, including encoders, laser measurement systems, cameras, and load cells.
• Develop and execute test procedures to evaluate robotic system performance, accuracy, reliability, and compliance with customer requirements.
• Perform hands-on system testing, troubleshooting, and validation using production hardware.
• Apply CAD, GD&T, engineering drawings, and metrology principles to define application requirements and verify system performance.
• Coordinate technical project activities, including requirements definition, development milestones, testing schedules, and customer deliverables.
• Support robotic system installation, commissioning, and deployment at customer facilities.
• Provide technical training and operational support to customers using deployed automation equipment.
• Gather customer feedback, diagnose application issues, and implement improvements to enhance system performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams to resolve integration challenges and improve future robotic system designs.

Qualifications

• Experience developing, integrating, testing, or deploying electromechanical systems, robotic equipment, or industrial automation solutions.
• Experience working across multidisciplinary engineering teams, including mechanical, electrical, software, and controls disciplines.
• Strong understanding of motion control systems, industrial sensors, and measurement technologies, including encoders, cameras, laser sensors, and load cells.
• Experience translating customer or project requirements into technical specifications, development objectives, and project timelines.
• Demonstrated experience delivering technical products or systems to customers, including requirements definition, testing, training, and post-deployment support.
• Proficiency with object-oriented programming and the ability to work with software-driven engineering systems.
• Experience developing and executing technical test procedures, analyzing results, and documenting system performance.
• Working knowledge of CAD, GD&T, engineering drawings, and dimensional metrology.
• Strong technical troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex integration challenges across hardware and software systems.
• Ability to manage assigned engineering activities from initial definition through validation and delivery.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for customer installations, system testing, training, and technical support.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Preferred Experience

• Hands-on experience with industrial robotic arms, particularly FANUC or Universal Robots platforms.
• Experience developing or deploying robotic applications for aerospace manufacturing, maintenance, or repair operations.
• Familiarity with automated manufacturing processes such as precision drilling, routing, welding, fastening, or surface finishing.
• Experience integrating robotic motion systems with machine vision, laser measurement equipment, or other industrial sensing technologies.
• Understanding of aerospace manufacturing requirements, inspection methods, and quality standards.
• Experience supporting robotic system commissioning, customer acceptance testing, or field deployment.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Compensation Details

$75,000 - $110,000
