A rapidly growing aerospace startup is developing cutting-edge propulsion technology designed to enable more efficient and sustainable satellite operations in orbit. The company is building advanced plasma and electric propulsion systems that will help spacecraft operate longer, maneuver more effectively, and reduce mission costs. As an Electrical Engineer, you’ll join a small, hands-on engineering team responsible for power systems, control electronics, and prototype development. You’ll design, test, and integrate complex hardware that plays a direct role in the next generation of orbital propulsion systems.

Job Duties
- Lead the design, development, and testing of power and control electronics for next-generation propulsion and spacecraft subsystems.
- Develop high-voltage converters, switching systems, and power distribution hardware to support propulsion and related electrical loads.
- Design control boards and sensor interfaces for ignition, discharge, and thermal regulation.
- Prototype and bring up new circuits, perform bench testing, and iterate designs using performance data.
- Write and maintain embedded control code and automation scripts (C/C++/Python) for system testing and telemetry.
- Perform component derating, worst-case analysis, and reliability validation for flight and environmental conditions.
- Work cross-functionally with propulsion, avionics, and mechanical teams to ensure complete system integration.
- Support environmental qualification testing including vibration, thermal, vacuum, and EMI/EMC.
- Prepare documentation, test reports, and design reviews for program milestones.
- Contribute to manufacturing readiness through fixture development, vendor coordination, and test planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in power electronics, controls, or embedded system design.
- Proficiency in analog and digital circuit design and high-voltage system development.
- Working knowledge of Python and C++ for embedded or test applications.
- Experience with microcontrollers, data acquisition, and hardware/software interfaces.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills using standard lab equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, hands-on engineering environment.
Preferred Experience
- Background in plasma, ion, or electric propulsion systems or other high-energy technologies.
- Familiarity with flight-qualified or ruggedized hardware development, EMI/EMC, and environmental testing.
- Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium, KiCad, or OrCAD.
- Understanding of spacecraft power systems, avionics integration, or system-level verification.
- Prior experience in a startup or rapid-development environment.
