Opportunity Summary
A rapidly scaling aerospace organization is developing advanced electric propulsion and power systems that enable high-performance operations in Very Low Earth Orbit as well as future spacecraft platforms. Their technology is focused on improving maneuverability, extending mission life, and reducing operational cost for both commercial and government space missions. As an Electrical Engineer, you will help design and deliver the core electronics that power these propulsion systems and support spacecraft integration. In this role, you will take ownership of power electronics, embedded control hardware, and high voltage systems that form the backbone of propulsion architectures.

Job Duties
- Design and develop power electronics and control systems that support VLEO propulsion hardware and future spacecraft subsystems
- Build high voltage converters, switching modules, and power distribution units that drive propulsive and auxiliary electrical loads
- Develop embedded control boards and sensor interfaces supporting ignition, discharge control, thermal regulation, and VLEO specific requirements
- Prototype circuits and assemblies, perform bring up testing, evaluate performance data, and iterate designs rapidly
- Write embedded control software and automation scripts in C, C++, or Python to support telemetry, system monitoring, and test automation
- Conduct derating analysis, worst case circuit evaluation, and reliability assessments suitable for launch and orbital environments
- Collaborate closely with propulsion, avionics, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical hardware
- Support qualification campaigns including vibration, thermal vacuum, thermal cycling, and EMI or EMC testing
- Prepare technical documentation, design reviews, test reports, and internal development packages
- Contribute to build readiness through fixture design, vendor coordination, and production test planning
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field
- 3+ years of experience working in power electronics, embedded control systems, or high voltage electrical hardware
- Experience designing analog and digital circuits and developing high voltage systems for demanding environments
- Proficiency with Python and C++ for embedded development, automation, or test scripting
- Hands on experience with microcontrollers, hardware software interfaces, and data acquisition systems
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and lab based testing skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast paced, collaborative, and hands on engineering culture
Preferred Experience
- Background working with plasma propulsion, ion propulsion, VLEO systems, or high energy electrical technologies
- Experience supporting flight qualified hardware, ruggedized electronics, and EMI or EMC compliant designs
- Familiarity with PCB layout tools such as Altium, KiCad, or OrCAD
- Understanding of spacecraft power architecture, avionics integration, or system level verification workflows
- Prior experience in a startup or rapid iteration engineering environment with end to end ownership

Compensation Details
$100,000 - $160,000
