About the Opportunity
HireIQ Solutions is leading the search for a Project Engineer II on behalf of a well-established mechanical contractor in the Pacific Northwest. This role supports commercial mechanical construction projects and works closely with Project Managers to ensure projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with company standards. Occasional travel to project sites may be required.
Essential Responsibilities
The Project Engineer takes direction from the Project Manager to ensure staff efforts are coordinated and aligned with departmental and company goals.
- Manage jobsite documentation and project records
- Coordinate job setup, site mobilization, project administration, and closeout
- Prepare equipment requisitions in coordination with the Purchasing team
- Research, prepare, and present proposals
- Prepare cost control and expense reports
- Track schedules and monitor job progress
- Review contracts, drawings, specifications, and estimates; prepare change orders
- Draft subcontracts, purchase orders, correspondence, and field documentation
- Coordinate equipment procurement with internal teams and external vendors
- Assist with scope development for subcontractors
- Support monthly financial reporting and billing documentation
- Assist with RFPs and procurement processes
- Develop site-specific work plans
- Assist with submittals, operations and maintenance manuals, air balance logs, and as-builts
- Build positive working relationships with customers and suppliers
- Demonstrate consistent adherence to company safety programs
- Communicate proactively regarding project status and issues
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelor of Science in Construction Management or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Construction Project Engineer
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, Navisworks, and Bluebeam
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, contracts, proposals, and estimates
- Technical experience reviewing submittals and installation drawings; mechanical and plumbing experience preferred
- Intermediate understanding of accounting principles
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities
- History of reliable attendance
- Customer-service mindset
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to stand, bend, squat, sit, climb, and drive as needed
- Willingness to work extended hours when business demands
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions
