About the Company

HireIQ Solutions is leading the search for a Sales Application Engineer at a US manufacturer of engineered-to-order HVAC systems serving data centers, cleanrooms, and healthcare environments. The company designs, fabricates, and tests custom air-handling and modular cooling solutions—building most components in-house for speed, quality, and reliability.

About the Role

As a Sales Application Engineer (SAE) you will translate complex customer specifications into accurate proposals and manufacturable designs. You’ll own projects from preliminary design and pricing through release to manufacturing—partnering with sales reps, customers, engineering, supply chain, and production to ensure scope, cost, and schedule align from quote to shipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support sales reps in assessing technical fit and defining scope to meet customer needs.
  • Gather and interpret project engineering data; develop preliminary designs and selections.
  • Prepare accurate quotes/pricing and technical proposals for custom equipment.
  • Serve as single-point project contact for customers from order through delivery.
  • Review drawings, analyze designs, and complete layouts/schematics as needed.
  • Create and validate buyout component lists; coordinate with Procurement.
  • Release projects to manufacturing; monitor build progress and address issues.
  • Manage contractual modifications and change orders to protect schedule and margin.
  • Provide technical support to reps/customers and facilitate cross-functional design reviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years experience in technical sales, applications engineering, or project engineering.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and CAD tools (AutoCAD/Inventor or similar).
  • Ability to read/interpret blueprints, specs, and technical documents.
  • Strong written/verbal communication; comfortable with customer-facing interactions.
  • Ability to learn in-house and third-party engineering selection software.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Office-based with regular visits to the manufacturing floor and test labs (PPE required).
  • Exposure to HVAC equipment, moderate noise, and temperature variations.
  • Able to sit/stand for extended periods; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Organized, self-directed, collaborative, and customer-service oriented; thrives in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent projects.
