Compensation: $115k–$135k DOE, plus annual bonus and full benefits
HireIQ Solutions is leading the exclusive search for a Civil Transportation Engineer, PE to join an Alaskan-owned, multidisciplinary engineering and surveying firm with a long-standing presence across Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. The firm provides planning, design, and construction support services for state, municipal, federal, tribal, and private clients, with a strong focus on projects that directly improve local communities.
This role will focus primarily on transportation infrastructure, with an emphasis on roadways, highways, intersections, pedestrian and bicycle-related improvements, and other community-focused transportation projects. Airport and air transportation experience is also valued, but the current priority is highway, roads, and surface transportation work.

The Role
We’re seeking a full-time Civil Transportation Engineer, PE in Anchorage to help plan, design, and deliver transportation infrastructure projects throughout Alaska. This person will play a key role in roadway, highway, intersection, and community mobility projects, while also supporting airport-related infrastructure work as needed.
This is a strong opportunity for a civil engineer who wants to apply technical design skills to projects that have a visible and lasting impact on communities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and deliver transportation infrastructure projects, including roadways, highways, intersections, bicycle and pedestrian improvements, airfields, and landside airport facilities.
- Develop geometric design for roadways and related transportation facilities, including alignments, profiles, cross sections, grading, and site layouts.
- Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Apply design criteria from AASHTO, state DOTs, FAA Advisory Circulars, and local agencies.
- Coordinate with clients, DOTs, municipalities, airport authorities, utilities, regulatory agencies, and internal multidisciplinary teams.
- Manage project scope, schedules, and budgets to support successful project delivery.
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
- Prepare and review traffic control plans, construction phasing, and airport construction safety and phasing plans as applicable.
- Support permitting and regulatory coordination, including environmental documentation and agency approvals.
- Provide construction-phase support, including RFIs, submittal reviews, and field issue resolution.
- Ensure quality control and compliance with safety standards, codes, and regulations.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong technical design skills in transportation engineering.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering staff at various experience levels.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and project delivery discipline.
- Ability to manage scope, schedule, and budget expectations.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office products.
- Strong knowledge of AASHTO, state DOT, local agency, and applicable FAA design standards.
- Ability to support client relationships and help expand the firm’s transportation capabilities.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Alaska, or ability to obtain Alaska licensure.
- 5–10 years of experience in transportation and/or airport engineering.
- Roadway, highway, intersection, and surface transportation project experience strongly preferred.
- Bicycle, pedestrian, and community mobility project experience is a plus.
- Aviation planning or airport infrastructure experience is a plus.
