Safety Manager - Mission-Critical/Data Center

Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa (onsite)

Compensation: $100,000–$130,000+ base DOE, plus overtime eligibility (~10 hrs/week per workload) + full benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k)

match, STD/LTD, Voluntary Life, PTO)


HireIQ Solutions is leading the search for a Safety Manager to serve as the site-lead for a large mission-critical (data center) project in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This full-time W-2 role is with a nationally recognized mechanical contractor. The project is ramping now with peak activity through the next 18–24 months. You’ll own day-to-day safety leadership, ensure compliance with federal/state/local requirements, and coach a growing team so everyone goes Home Healthy – Home Safe each shift.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead site safety program for a high-visibility data center project; act as the senior safety resource on-site.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Lead/participate in incident investigations and emergency response.
  • Perform Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and maintain jobsite-specific documentation.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and targeted safety trainings; coach and mentor craft and field leadership.
  • Support permitting and compliance activities; coordinate with regional HSE leadership.
  • Carry out additional assignments in support of company Health & Safety goals.


What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of construction safety experience (mechanical, electrical, industrial, or mission-critical strongly preferred).
  • OSHA 30 required. OSHA 500 or 510 strongly preferred (or willingness to obtain shortly after hire).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of risk, liability, and safety management in active construction environments.
  • Strong communication (written/verbal), organization, follow-through, and documentation skills.
  • Solid computer skills (tracking systems, incident/corrective-action logs, training records).
  • Self-motivated leader who can influence without authority and build a culture of safety.
  • Education/Certifications (any of the following):
  • Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related (Industrial Hygiene, Fire/Environmental Protection, etc.), or
  • Professional certifications such as CHST, OHST, ASP, CSP, or
  • Equivalent experience (minimum five years in construction safety with day-to-day HSE responsibilities).


Schedule, Travel & Project Timeline

  • Full-time, onsite in Cedar Rapids with typical workweeks including ~10 hours of overtime (varies by phase).
  • Regional travel as needed.
  • Project duration estimated 18–24 months with strong potential for continued opportunities thereafter.

  • Temporary housing support up to ~$4,000/month (per policy and project phase).
