The Position

The Rapid Response Director will work alongside DMFI’s Chief Communications Officer to drive DMFI’s key messages each day to a variety of audiences, including Capitol Hill, the press, and across digital platforms.

The role requires a strong grasp of U.S.-Israel policy and the ability to translate complex issues into compelling content for a variety of audiences. The Rapid Response Director will play a central role in ensuring DMFI’s voice is included in key stories and fast-moving developments and narratives by crafting rapid-turnaround written materials, including official statements, talking points, press releases, and other messaging for the media.

The ideal candidate has a passion for and knowledge of the U.S.-Israel relationship, is an excellent writer for a variety of audiences, has savvy political and communications instincts, and thrives in fast-paced environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • In coordination with the Chief Communications Officer, craft and execute real-time rapid response materials including talking points, memos, press statements and other creative content.
  • Work with the political department and DMFI PAC to identify and respond to fast-moving narratives and opportunities to drive key messages.
  • Draft, edit, and manage the distribution and quality of written materials every day.
  • Amplify DMFI’s voice in news cycles using tactics such as pitching stories, briefing reporters, and collaborating with digital strategists.
  • Work closely with colleagues, partners, and consultants.
  • Cultivate relationships with key media outlets and reporters and help execute the earned media strategy.
  • Other duties as assigned to support DMFI’s mission.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Reports to: Chief Communications Officer
  • Staff reporting to this position: None
  • Location: On-site in Washington, D.C., hybrid – 3 days in office


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • At least 7 years of experience in political or policy communications ideally on Capitol Hill or within an issue advocacy organization, electoral campaign or media environment.
  • Proven track record in rapid-response communications—able to pivot messaging within minutes of breaking news or political developments.
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle competing priorities, pivot quickly, and meet tight deadlines without sacrificing quality.
  • Success in this role will require deep knowledge of the policy and political dynamics of the U.S.-Israel relationship.
  • Availability for evening and weekend work to ensure timely responses as news breaks.
  • Entrepreneurial with a collaborative work style and a growth mindset.
  • Solutions-oriented.
  • Strong attention to detail.


COMPENSATION

Salary

$100,000 to $120,000
