Fully Flexible Working Model (WFH / Office to Suit You) | 9-day Fortnight

This is a newly created opportunity to join a large, regulated essential services organisation with a significant operational footprint across regional NSW.

The role has been established to strengthen ownership, continuity and commercial oversight across the internal audit function. You’ll report directly to a highly regarded Head of Internal Audit and play a key role in shaping how internal audit is delivered across the business.

The Opportunity

Enjoy end-to-end carriage of audits, strong exposure to senior stakeholders, and the opportunity to influence the future operating model of the function.

You’ll work closely with one other internal auditor, with each of you owning approximately half of the audit plan. There is no people management responsibility; however, the role offers significant accountability and autonomy, with support provided through an established co-sourced model.

The organisation operates across regional NSW, and this role will suit someone who enjoys working closely with operational teams and spending time in the field when required.

The Role

  • End-to-end ownership of internal audits across the business
  • Manage the full audit lifecycle, including:
  • Review of proposals from co-sourced providers
  • Oversight of audit delivery and quality
  • Contracting, billing and provider management
  • Review and delivery of audit reports
  • Partner with the business on findings, actions and remediation tracking
  • Contribute to a rolling three-year internal audit strategy
  • Support continuous monitoring initiatives and assurance mapping
  • Help strengthen foundational internal audit frameworks and processes

About You

You’re likely an experienced Senior Consultant or Manager-level Internal Auditor with:

  • Experience gained in a Big Four environment
  • Strong internal audit, governance, risk and assurance capability
  • Exposure to clients in energy, utilities, infrastructure, transport, resources, construction, or other asset-intensive and operationally focused industries

Location & Flexibility

  • Preference for candidates based within NSW
  • Sydney and Newcastle are well suited, though other regional NSW locations will be considered
  • Fully flexible WFH / office model
  • 9-day fortnight
  • Travel to regional NSW is required, typically around once per month for a few days

Remuneration & Benefits

  • 16% superannuation
  • Support for ongoing study and professional development
  • Investment in ongoing learning and development
  • A culture that promotes internal growth, with opportunities to progress within internal audit or into other areas of interest

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced internal auditor who enjoys autonomy, variety and meaningful influence.

If you’d like to explore this opportunity in confidence, feel free to get in touch.
