Mine Operations Superintendent


As the company continues to grow, we are seeking a Mine Operations Superintendent to join our team and play a key role in supporting the success of our operations. In this role, you will lead, direct, and continuously improve all surface mining activities to deliver safe, productive, and cost-effective operations. 

 

Responsibilities


  • Lead a Zero Harm culture, ensuring safe work practices, hazard awareness, and full compliance with MSHA and company mining standards. 
  • Direct the execution of all loading, hauling, drilling, blasting, dozing, road maintenance, and pit support activities. 
  • Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production targets while managing ore/waste movement, minimizing dilution, and optimizing cost per ton. 
  • Review and align short-range (shift to 13-week) plans with long-range strategies and mine engineering inputs. 
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Geology, Maintenance, Processing, and EH&S to ensure seamless operational readiness and execution. 
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performance operations workforce, including supervisors, drill & blast teams, and training personnel. 
  • Foster a culture of accountability, capability growth, and operational excellence. 
  • Drive improvements in haulage efficiency, drill-blast fragmentation, rehandle reduction, and mining cycle times. 
  • Develop, execute, and manage the Mine Operations operating budget, including labor, consumables, drill & blast, equipment utilization, and contractor services, ensuring cost performance aligns with mine plans and production targets. 
  • Track, analyze, and report daily, weekly, and monthly mine operations performance, including production volumes, fleet productivity, unit costs, and key operational variances, using FMS and operational data. 


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering or a related field preferred. 
  • Minimum fifteen years of experience in open-pit hard-rock mining operations, including production, drill and blast, loading, hauling, and ore control.  
  • Minimum ten years of senior operational leadership experience supervising crews, executing mine plans, and managing daily performance in a large-scale open-pit mining environment.  
  • Strong knowledge of truck/shovel operations, drill and blast, ore control, pit compliance, and fleet management systems.  
  • Practical experience with Fleet Management Systems (FMS). 
  • Demonstrated success in operational improvement initiatives and cost optimization.  
  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and leadership skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (intermediate level or higher). 
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.  
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
