JOB TITLE: Controller
Purpose & Scope of The Position:
The Controller is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial records for the mine site. This role manages professional and operational accounting functions in accordance with corporate and site accounting policies, internal controls, and applicable GAAP/IFRS standards. The Controller supports the Finance Manager by providing reliable financial information, strong cost control, and disciplined execution across construction, project development, and active mining operations.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain site accounting systems, processes, and internal controls in alignment with corporate standards.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS and company accounting policies.
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Ensure proper transaction coding and review of accounting documentation.
- Lead month-end close activities, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of interim, monthly, and year-to-date financial and cost reports with variance analysis.
- Assist in preparation and analysis of annual, short-term, and long-term budgets, forecasts, re-forecasts, and Life of Mine (LOM) models.
- Serve as the primary site-level accounting liaison with Corporate Finance and shared services teams.
- Manage cost and operations accounting activities, including support of capital project accounting and transition from construction to operations.
Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Experience:
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP/IFRS.
- Experience with budgeting, payroll, AP/AR, and operational accounting.
- Ability to manage deadlines and work independently.

Licenses: Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

Experience: Mining or large-scale industrial project experience.
Technical Skills & Competencies:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Experience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards or similar.
- Strong attention to detail and data integrity.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Direct supervision of accounting staff.
- Responsible for coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
