Position Overview
The Processing Manager reports to the Operations Manager, and the primary role is to manage the Processing Operations, Plant and other Surface Infrastructure Maintenance, and associated Laboratory Services. Success in this role is demonstrated by consistent recovery, runtime and throughput performance, delivering forecasted production results in a safe and efficient manner. This role is based at the Mine site; however, it is expected that due to the functions within the team, it would be expected that the schedule for this role is 4 days on 3 days off.
Safety Requirements
Develop, implement, manage, review and improve safe systems of work for all processing operations to ensure compliance to legislation and company policies.
Ensure all personnel are adequately inducted in their work area and are trained in work procedures critical to their tasks.
Actively contribute to site safety policy, new initiatives and implement change as directed by the General Manager.
Actively promote, monitor and enforce compliance of personnel with safe work practices.
Ensure all incidents are reported, investigated (including leading investigations as required) and reports generated in accordance with company policy and statutory requirements.
Display a clear commitment to safety and health and seek to eliminate or control the risks of injury and/or damage to equipment.
Operate in accordance with and comply with the Company’s Safety and Health Policy, and with all site policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Proactive involvement with continuous OHST improvement processes.
Active participation in all communication and awareness

Specific Departmental Requirements:
Develop operating strategies to safely operate the Processing Plant including Assay Laboratory and Dry Stack Tailings Storage Facility to meet the Company’s strategic goals.
Drive continuous improvement in processing, metallurgy and maintenance to optimize and ensure gold recovery, throughput rate and plant availability.
Drive development, implementation and maintenance of efficient maintenance planning systems.
Lead investigations into plant downtime and drive implementation of the resulting corrective actions.
Ensure all risks associated with Processing, Assaying, and other Surface Operations are identified and addressed as required,
Establish adequate security for the gold room including pouring, handling, storage, and transport.
Maintain open and positive lines of communication with all relevant personnel creating an awareness of current performance and future targets and directions.
Oversee the resourcing, generation and communication of all plans, schedules and budgets to achieve all operating objectives.
Manage the Processing Operations, Metallurgy, and Surface Maintenance Teams, including external contractors.
Liaise with the Mining Department, Purchasing and Warehousing, and other departments as necessary, to ensure alignment in achieving the sites goals.
Mentor and ensure the development of all team members.
Develop a succession plan for roles within the processing team, and other teams as appropriate.

Leadership Responsibilities
Manage the Processing Department.
Oversee the creation, maintenance, and application of departmental procedures.
Oversee hiring processes, and performance evaluations.
Proactively and collaboratively coach and mentor employees.
Proactively review and update training systems to ensure that all employees are trained.
Provide and monitor training opportunities in an objective process; ensure that training opportunities are made available fairly, consistently and in a manner free from discriminatory bias.
Review employees’ requests/applications for training based on objective evidence related to job performance, abilities and interest.
Document employees’ readiness to train for tasks, noting any operational reasons related to the availability and scheduling of requested training.
Maintain training records of employees in the department. Monitor training register and log formal training as it occurs.
Participate in the review of any appeals filed by employees concerning training opportunities.
Implement timely corrective actions for employees who are not meeting expectations.

Key Role Qualifications & Experience Required
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Processing, Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or related field.
Fifteen years’ experience in a senior processing role in mining, involving interactions with senior management.
Minimum five years’ supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to hold a team accountable and drive change.
Experience providing direction, guidance and influence to the organization at the Senior Management level.
A successful track record of delivering recovery improvement.
Must have good comprehension of safe operating procedures, safety rules, policies and emergency procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally.
Advanced Computer literacy – Microsoft Office suite.
Current Driver’s License.
Ability to pass a background check and post-offer physical.
