Principal Accountability of the Role
The Finance Superintendent reports to the Commercial Manager, and the primary role is to manage the Company’s financial systems and contribute to the Finance Team charged with day-to-day management of the Company.

Specific Departmental Requirements:  
- Responsible for the preparation of financial reporting to internal stakeholders and external government bodies, in accordance with US. Generally accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) & International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Corporate Accounting Policies. 
- Ensure effective internal controls and policies are in place to safeguard the assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls. 
- Assume a leadership role in providing financial guidance through the preparation and adherence to an approved business plan, as well as, assisting in the development and updating company policies and procedures. 
- Collaborate with Perth Finance team to ensure that all new vendors or changes to vendors are reviewed and authorized and entered by Corporate Finance in the NSR Information Systems. 
- Oversee the accounting, information services and materials management functions and ensures staff are developed and trained to complete their functions safely and effectively. 
- Direct subordinates in the achievement of their objectives and ensures a level of training and competence commensurate with the demands of their positions. Develop staff to prepare them for future challenges and success. 
- Responsible for preparing the annual budget, mid-year forecast and ad hoc financial analysis. 
- Monitor capital expenditure review against budget and complete monthly calls with operations to review all variances to budget and any new requests for capital. 
- Responsible for cash management in partnership of the Commercial Manager. 
- Review and approve Capital Expense Requisitions and set them up in the accounting system to ensure proper capture of costs to individual capital projects. 
- Ensure that the purchase to pay cycle is proper segregation of duties and payments are made to authorised vendors. 
- Ensure that purchasing team is processing requisitions in a timely manner to ensure that all purchase orders are issued with delay. 
- Ensure that all vendor invoices are processed timely and that invoices are three (3) way matched to ensure properly receipt. 
- Risk management responsibilities which include but are not limited to insurance renewals in conjunction with the Human Resources Manager. 
- Collaborate with Corporate Treasury to produce cash management requests and review adequacy of bank accounts. 
- Set up fixed Asset additions in the fixed assets system and remove and retire assets upon disposition. 
- Prepare and review general ledger account and bank reconciliation. 
- Collaborate with Perth Finance team to ensure proper accounting of asset retirement obligations. 
- Ensure proper accounting for lease transactions. 
- Monitor accounts receivable payments for an ancillary refinery revenue for precious metals within Alaska. 
- Liaise with external audit firms during periods of annual audits not limited to Pogo 401K Plan and the NSR external audit. 
- In addition, provide support for any NSR resources internal audit requests. 
- Ensure proper reporting and compliance for year end vendor reports such as 1099’s. 
- Ensure and review fortnightly payroll in conjunction with the human resources manager. 
- Collaborate with external taxation firms for proper preparation of the NSR (Pogo) Corporate Income Tax Returns. 
- Responsible for leading team members, helping to clarify roles and responsibilities, and developing and implementing training programs to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals; provide positive leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization. Create and promote a positive, supportive and safe work environment. 
- Work to ensure effective communications and harmonious relationships are maintained with internal and external contacts. 
- Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential. 
- Maintain a professional and ethical responsibility that adheres to the corporate code of ethics in all business dealings with internal and external contacts. 
- Work with and support senior management to promote effective and efficient company health/safety and environmental programs. 
- Assume responsibility for additional roles and or projects as required. 
- Prepare upgrade criteria for each non-exempt job classification, as well as any needed revisions, for manager’s approval. 
- Provide and monitor training opportunities in an objective process; ensure that training opportunities are made available fairly, consistently and in a manner free from discriminatory bias. 
			review employees’ requests/applications for training based on objective evidence related to job performance, abilities and interest. 
- Document employees’ readiness to train for tasks, noting any operational reasons related to the availability and scheduling of requested training. 
- Maintain training records of employees in the department. Monitor training register and logging formal training as it occurs 
- Participate in the review of any appeals filed by employees concerning training opportunities 
- Other duties as required. 
 
Key Role Qualifications & Experience Required 
 Qualifications Required 
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline (CPA, CMA or equivalent preferred). 
- Must be knowledgeable in managing processes, financial software, developing standards, audit, accounting, corporate finance, tracking budget expenses, financial skills, analysing information, and developing budgets. 
- Advanced level expertise with spreadsheets 
- Be able to pass a background check and post offer physical. 
- Professional licensure preferred (e. g., CPA, CFM) 
- Current US Driver’s License. 
 
Desired Experience & Competencies 
- Five (5) years increasingly responsible relevant work experience, three years in a supervisory capacity. Experience in the mining industry preferred. 
- Must be knowledgeable in managing processes, financial software, developing standards, audit, accounting, corporate finance, tracking budget expenses, financial skills, analysing information, and developing budgets. 
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision, ability to work in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.   
- Ability to assume increasing levels of responsibility. 
- Proven ability to read, comprehend, and apply information from technical manuals and other reference materials.  
- Ability to work in a team with a high regard for Quality and Environmental concerns and with a strong commitment to Safety and Safe Production.
