Chief Mine Engineer
We are seeking a Chief Mine Engineer to join our team and play a key role in supporting the success of our operations. In this role, you will lead all engineering, mine planning, and ore control activities, including short- and long-term mine planning, drill and blast engineering, geotechnical oversight, surveying, and ore control. You will also provide financial and strategic technical leadership to support operational excellence and maximize long-term asset value.
Responsibilities
· Lead development and oversight of short-term, long-term, drill and blast, and geotechnical engineering workflows.
· Coordinate mine planning with geology, dewatering, geotechnical, mine maintenance, process, environmental, safety, exploration, and mine operations teams.
· Monitor production performance and alignment with budgets and forecasts.
· Identify and resolve design or fleet efficiency issues.
· Maximize ore recovery and long-term asset value through strong technical leadership.
· Support pit optimization, mine scheduling, fleet sizing, dump designs, and other technical studies.
· Manage mining studies (PFS/FS) and capital project timelines.
· Drive initiatives to improve productivity, cost control, and efficiency.
· Develop engineering policies, procedures, and best-practice standards.
· Lead a Zero Harm culture; ensure full compliance with MSHA and site safety standards.
· Mentor and develop Technical Services staff.
· Provide performance reports, risk assessments, and recommendations to senior management.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or related field required.
· Ten or more years of senior-level technical leadership managing engineering teams, cross-functional collaboration, and delivering operational improvements.
· Fifteen or more years of mining engineering, technical services, and open-pit hard-rock mining experience.
· Ten or more years of experience with mining engineering, ore control, ground control, and production optimization.
· Proficiency in mine planning software for generating and optimizing plans and schedules.
· Familiarity with fleet management systems and technical data platforms.
· Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (intermediate level or higher).
· Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
· Must possess a valid driver’s license.
