Position Summary:
Operating within a dynamic mineral processing environment, the Process Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the process area, ensuring alignment with the company’s values and vision. This role provides clear direction, fosters a culture of safety and continuous improvement, and empowers team members to achieve operational excellence.
Job Duties
- Leads the Process Plant, Concentrate Handling, TRSF and Surface Infrastructure Technical Studies during Front-End-Loading to establish an optimal, high performance process, concentrate handling, tailings and surface infrastructure systems approach
- Works with Mining and Technical Services groups to review minable reserves and resource estimates and to establish an approach to resource drilling which supports geo-metallurgical sampling and testing and process design requirements and timelines
- Leads the process of developing and managing a geo-metallurgical lab and pilot scale testing program to support orebody knowledge leading to optimal process flowsheet development, equipment specification and selection, and optimized recoveries and process plant performance
- Leads the development of operational plans for process plant, concentrate handling, TRSF, material stockpiling and blending, and surface infrastructure operations considering remote location, camp operation and optimizing mine operating and turnaround schedule
- Lead the process area with clear direction and priorities, coaching and developing the team, and managing change to deliver sustainable improvements aligned with company values.
- Reviews and has significant input to the development of a comprehensive Materials Management and Handling plan including, PAG, NAG, Pyrite Tailings, Paste Backfill and TRSF
- Reviews and has significant input to process plant layout, design, processing and concentrate handling methods and productivity bases, automation, capital and operating costs in Front-End-Loading Studies leading to and developing operational execution plans
- Leads an overall surface infrastructure facilities design and approach working across all operational disciplines and stakeholders
- Supports and has significant input to fixed plant and surface equipment fleet maintenance strategy and approach
- Manage process plant and surface equipment selection, specifications, and procurement, working with the Operations Manager and technical teams to align design intent, production schedules, and execution.
- Manage all contractors and employees to ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures, safety and environmental standards, and local and company regulations
- Ability to safely and efficiently manage operational activities and deliver productivity improvements in a complex process plant
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex troubleshooting analyses and resolve a wide variety of plant-wide issues
- Ability to manage change effectively and to create and implement sustainable solutions
- Lead, direct, and support all aspects of laboratory test work covering flotation, acid and caustic cracking, leach, solvent extraction and separation processes
- Develop and manage process/metallurgical KPIs; monitor and analyze performance trends; recommend and drive corrective actions and best practices to maximize recovery, stability, and plant performance.
- Demonstrated business improvement achievements and ability to implement strategic plans
- Develop practical, viable contingency plans in response to key risks to ensure plan delivery
- Lead coordination of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, utilities, and general services engineering, ensuring work is executed to design/specs and aligned with Operations on equipment selection and production schedules.
- Own the Process area business plan, financial targets, and capital/operating budgets, and provide clear performance reporting against objectives to all levels of the organization (and outside stakeholders when needed).
Workplace Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Technical Diploma in Mineral Process, Metallurgical, Chemical, or Mining Engineering or related field; Masters level degree or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 10+ years of mineral processing experience with broad management responsibilities
- Work as a team member and communicate openly with others
- Self-directed and able to take leadership role on many projects
- In-depth technical knowledge of oxide ore metallurgy process with emphasis on heap leaching and gold/silver extraction methodologies
- Strong computer skills (i.e., MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking, data analysis, problem solving and time management
- Ability to set clear objectives and goals, monitor progress, measure performance and evaluate results
- Possess strong leadership in the areas of health, safety and environmental stewardship
- Experience in leading and building teams and who empowers others, provides guidance and is open to feedback and constantly strives to improve.
