The Community Relations Specialist is responsible for executing community relations strategies, representing our Client at community events and meetings, and maintaining successful relationships within the local communities. The community relations program reflects a structured, multi-pronged approach designed to support and maintain the company’s social license to operate. This includes stakeholder engagement, grievance management, community investment, local recruitment and procurement support, and strategic partnerships, all supported by an integrated management system.


Key Areas of Responsibilities & Duties:

The key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee implementation of the community relations and stakeholder engagement programs in alignment with the Integrated Management System (IMS) Community and Environmental Standards, including stakeholder identification, mapping, engagement planning, and performance tracking.
  • Administer and maintain system-based tracking tools for stakeholder engagements, grievances, commitments, and action tracking, ensuring data quality, completeness, and audit readiness.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the company and local stakeholders; proactively build and maintain positive relationships through regular communication, outreach, and engagement activities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute community outreach activities, including public meetings, community events, and site tours for stakeholders and community leaders.
  • Oversee implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Community Investment Plan (CIP) and Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP), including:
  • Coordination of program budgets, forecasting, and approvals
  • Administration of application intake and evaluation processes
  • Tracking and reporting of investments and community outcomes
  • Supporting governance structures such as the Community Donations Committee (CDC) and Community Liaison Committee (CLC)
  • Support and, as needed, facilitate governance committees (e.g., CDC, CLC), ensuring alignment with Company objectives, transparency in decision-making, and proper documentation of outcomes.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, and materials for internal leadership, community stakeholders, and external audiences to promote awareness of operations and community programs.
  • Develop and deliver training and awareness programs related to community relations.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Supply Chain to support local hiring, workforce development, and procurement initiatives that align with community investment priorities.
  • Participate in Social Baseline and Impact Assessment related to Stakeholder Engagement Plans.
  • Provide support to environmental permitting and land management activities, particularly where stakeholder engagement or community considerations are required.
  • Support financial management of the community relations program, including budget tracking, accruals, and purchase order management.
  • Comply with all Company standards, policies, and procedures, including Code of Conduct, Respect in the Workplace, and Safety, Health & Environment policies.
  • Provide support to assist the company in meeting all regulatory and company commitments.


Required Skills:

  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and programs in a structured, system-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating cross-functionally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.


Required Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. BS or BA degree in Communications/Business Administration/Human Resources/Environmental studies or a related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the mining industry, with community engagement or other related responsibilities
  • Experience supporting structured community programs, governance processes, or ESG-related reporting preferred.
  • Experience with public presentations, stakeholder engagement, and coordination of outreach materials and events preferred.
