As we transition from exploration to project development, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to support the planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of electrical infrastructure and power systems required for mine development and operations. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering consultants, contractors, utility providers, operations teams, and regulatory agencies to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. The role will be based in Arizona and involve both office and field responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities
· Lead and coordinate electrical engineering activities for capital and sustaining projects from concept development through construction and commissioning.
· Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and execution strategies.
· Manage electrical engineering deliverables, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and design packages.
· Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, and cost estimates.
· Track project progress, budgets, risks, and key milestones.
· Coordinate electrical engineering activities with civil, mechanical, mining, environmental, and operations teams.
· Support the design, evaluation, and implementation of:
o High-voltage and medium-voltage power distribution systems
o Substations and switchyards
o Transmission and distribution lines
o Plant power systems and motor control centers (MCCs)
o Backup power generation systems
o Instrumentation and control power infrastructure
o Renewable energy and energy storage opportunities
· Review electrical load studies, power system analyses, and equipment specifications.
· Coordinate with utility providers regarding service requirements, interconnection studies, and infrastructure development.
· Review vendor proposals and assist with equipment selection and procurement activities.
· Provide field engineering support during construction, installation, and commissioning activities.
· Conduct site inspections and verify compliance with engineering specifications, codes, and quality standards.
· Support contractor management, commissioning activities, punch-list resolution, and system handover.
· Participate in permitting and regulatory processes related to electrical infrastructure development.
· Prepare project status reports, technical memoranda, presentations, and management updates.
· Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company HSE policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
· Minimum 7 years of electrical engineering experience in mining, industrial facilities, energy, utility, infrastructure, or heavy industrial projects.
· Experience supporting projects from feasibility through construction and commissioning.
· Experience with electrical distribution systems, substations, power studies, and utility coordination.
· Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), IEEE, NFPA, and applicable industry standards.
· Experience working with engineering consultants, EPCM firms, and contractors.
· Familiarity with Arizona permitting and utility interconnection processes is considered an asset.
· Experience with project controls, scheduling, budgeting, and contractor management.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.
· Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary project environment.
Physical Demands
· Ability to understand, follow, and communicate work assignments, procedures, and safety requirements in English. Must be able to frequently sit, stand, walk, and lift or carry up to 10 pounds.
- Must be able to pass mandatory employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws
· Valid driver's license and ability to maintain an acceptable driving record.
· Demonstrated ability to safely operate four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicles in remote and rugged terrain.
· Must have legal authorization to work in the United States, or the ability to achieve authorization without financial support of the Company
