POSITION PURPOSE
Reporting to the Superintendent Employee Services, the Business Partner will support and coach all leaders and employees to ensure compliance with HR related laws, regulations policies, procedures and the application of the collective bargaining agreement.
The Business Partner will work with appropriate leaders on recruiting, succession planning, training, performance development/management and termination issues and activities.
The Business Partner will take the lead on all Collective Bargaining Agreement issues, which includes negotiations, agreement, communication, compliance and litigation. The Business Partner will support and coach leaders to become adept in handling HR related activity overall and specifically as it relates to the Collective Bargaining agreement.
This position will also coordinate with departments to increase employee engagement and reinforce the company's Vision and Values.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure all employees are working in compliance with all company and MSHA safety guidelines and procedures.
- Ensure all employees and contractors are working in compliance with all company standard operating procedures.
- Ensure that all employees and contractors are certified to execute the tasks/jobs they are assigned.
- Coach and mentor Mine department leaders to assist in addressing all necessary Collective Bargaining Agreement issues as needed in the areas of compliance and litigation. Actively participate and lead in negotiation of the Collective Bargaining agreement and ongoing communications.
- Provide direction to the Labor Relations Administrator on a daily basis regarding CBA compliance issues, documentation and next steps
- Develop the knowledge and skills of leaders and personnel in HR, labor and regulatory policies and compliance
- Deliver tactical and operational coaching and support to leaders to identify, prevent, mitigate or resolve HR related issues in a real-time environment
- Coach and guide leaders in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with their teams
- Coach and develop leaders to maintain proper and timely HR documentation and file it in the appropriate locations
- Coach, Lead and/or assist with the investigation and disciplinary process as required and in a manner appropriate with the ongoing development of onsite leaders.
- Identify, support and implement HR initiatives that optimize existing business systems, processes and practices to improve performance
- Provide input into the HR planning and forecasting processes
- Work to ensure manpower and other resource requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner to the specifications requested
- Deliver against agreed upon HR targets and budgets

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge
- Detailed knowledge of HR theories and practices
- Significant experience with collective bargaining concepts, agreements and compliance
Key Competencies / Skills
- Degree in Human Resource, Social Sciences or Business Management
- Minimum of 5 years of progressing HR experience in labor relations, recruiting, succession planning, training and coaching
- Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law and EEO statutes
- Ability to work effectively with company Leadership, Union Leadership and Legal Counsels to avoid or resolve issues
- Strong interpersonal, team building, coaching, written and verbal communication and organizational skills
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with hourly and salaried employees to achieve company and Mine Department’s goals
- Valid Arizona Driver’s license
- Acceptable computer skills: Microsoft Office and Outlook
- SAP or similar HRIS system experience is an asset
- Ability to develop a working knowledge of Mine department operations and terminology
- Mining or heavy industry experience an asset
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to stand and walk for short durations, including walking up and down stairs and across uneven surfaces.
- This role is generally 90% office environment and 10% field environment.
- Must be able to sit or stand for up to an hour at a time and lift up to 25 pounds.
