Electrical Foreman


SUMMARY 

The Maintenance Foreman - Electrical is a key member of the maintenance management team, responsible for the management and oversight of mine electricians and process controls team.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop, plan, and coordinate projects and responsibilities assigned to the department.
  • Responsible for electrical employee and contractor performance in the areas of safety, environmental, efficiency, productivity, quality, planning, and cost.
  • Review capital improvement plans and makes recommendations; evaluate infrastructure, facilities and operating systems for needed electrical maintenance and repair.
  • Assist with Maintenance department OPEX and CAPEX budget.
  • Plan, organize, manage, and supervise all electrical and instrumentation maintenance operations.
  • Responsible for the reliability and integrity of all electrical systems including mine and concentrator power distribution, motors, transformers, instrumentation, sensors/analyzers, PLC’s, Leaky Feeder, electrical special projects, radio coverage, etc.
  • Inspect daily operations and projects in process and upon completion to ensure the quality and reliability of work performed.
  • Participate in Risk Assessment activities as required. 
  • Attend meetings as required, including training and department meetings.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised, per the bargaining agreement, in the case of an emergency, when necessary to instruct employees in their duties, for minor work that is unreasonable to assign to a bargaining unit employee, or to provide training for salaried personnel.   
  • Follows and understands MSHA rules and regulations, environmental rules and regulations, SOP and work area instructions, participates in safety and environmental activities. Leads by example by adhering to rules and regulations and ensuring compliance to rules and regulations established by the the company.
  • Must be able to work and communicate with other members of the work team. 
  • Comply with applicable environmental laws and regulations. Conducts activities and work in an environmentally responsible manner. Is aware of procedures to minimize impacts to the environment.

Mine Electrician

 

Directly supervise salaried and hourly electrical department employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the mine's policies, applicable laws, and the collective bargaining agreement. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Participate in employee relations/disciplinary meetings as required, including grievance meetings for hourly employees

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

10 years of electrical field maintenance experience. 

Experience in mining and/or concentrator environments. 

Good understanding of underground mining operations. 

Prior supervisory experience. 

Must be computer literate and proficient in Excel.
