Senior Mine Engineer
We are seeking a motivated and proactive individual to fill the position of Senior Mine Engineer. The Senior Mine Engineer works with technical, operations, and support staff to develop and optimize life of mine and short-term planning activities for the Company. The successful candidate will be responsible for mine engineering standards and assist in mentoring other Mine Engineers. This person will help to develop and ensure alignment with the Company’s strategy to develop its projects and mine its deposits, while ensuring adherence to mining regulations and industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
· Develop and maintain mine designs, infrastructure layouts, and life-of-mine (LOM) schedules for underground and open pit operations across all stages of development and production.
· Generate short- and medium-term operational plans to support site execution and technical studies.
· Support preparation, review, and updates of NI 43-101 and SEC S-K 1300 technical reports, including mining sections and supporting documentation.
· Review and validate mine planning inputs including production schedules, dilution assumptions, cutoff strategies, and resource model integration.
· Assist in mineral reserve estimation and conversion by applying modifying factors and practical mine design constraints.
· Collaborate with geology, processing, and operations teams to ensure integrated and executable mine plans.
· Support development of economic inputs and assumptions, including operating costs, capital estimates, and productivity benchmarks.
· Provide technical guidance on mining methods and infrastructure systems (e.g. ventilation, drilling and blasting, ground control, pumping, materials handling) to support safe and efficient operations.
· Assist in managing and reviewing consultant deliverables for technical accuracy, completeness, and alignment with company standards.
· Evaluate and manage technical risks and uncertainties through trade-off analysis, scenario modeling, and optimization of mine planning inputs and study results.
· Benchmark mining practices and costs against industry peers to support continuous improvement and cost optimization.
· Contribute to development and implementation of best practices, workflows, and planning standards across the company.
· Provide technical support to site teams to ensure alignment between corporate plans, technical studies, and operations.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mine or Geological Engineering or a related discipline
· Seven (7) or more years of mining experience, with demonstrated underground mining experience required; open pit experience is considered an asset.
· Applied experience using software for mine design and scheduling software such as Deswik, MineSite, Vulcan, or similar.
· Demonstrated knowledge of mining methods, mine design and processing operations.
· Operational mining experience (site-based roles in production, planning or engineering) is strongly preferred.
· Exposure to or experience with geotechnical design, ground control, or rock mechanics is considered an asset.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate mine planning inputs and trade-offs.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general data analysis tools.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to work across technical disciplines.
· Self-starter who can be agile and decisive in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
