Process Manager


About the Role 

Reporting to the General Manager, the Process Manager provides overall leadership, direction, and coordination of leach pad, processing, assay, and metallurgical operations, including associated maintenance and support functions. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient operations while achieving production targets and optimizing costs. The Process Manager is accountable for overseeing and executing the below responsibilities in a safe, effective, and productive manner.


Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Development: Lead and manage the process area in alignment with the company’s values and vision, providing clear direction, establishing priorities, and setting well-defined expectations and success criteria for the supervisory team. Coach and mentor team members to improve performance, support ongoing growth and development, and establish organic succession plans.
  • Safety, Compliance & Operational Excellence: Manage employees and contractors to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, safety and environmental standards, and applicable local and company regulations. Safely and efficiently oversee operational activities within a complex process plant while driving productivity improvements and sustainable operational performance.
  • Process Engineering & Plant Design: Manage the overall design of process flowsheets, plant layouts, material handling systems, equipment procurement, and material utilization. Coordinate plant engineering activities across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, utilities, and general services, ensuring all work is executed in accordance with approved designs, specifications, and instructions.
  • Technical Operations & Process Optimization: Lead, direct, and support laboratory test work involving flotation, acid and caustic cracking, leaching, solvent extraction, and separation processes. Manage the metallurgical performance of processing facilities, establish and implement best operating practices, and monitor and analyze key metallurgical performance indicators to identify opportunities and recommend corrective actions to the operations team.
  • Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement: Apply complex troubleshooting and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve a wide range of plant-wide issues. Effectively manage operational change, develop and implement sustainable solutions, and demonstrate measurable business improvement achievements through the execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Operational Planning & Risk Management: Develop and execute the Process area’s annual business plan and strategy in alignment with corporate objectives and expectations for financial and productivity performance. Establish practical and viable contingency plans to address key operational risks and support successful delivery of business plans.
  • Budget & Financial Management: Develop and manage capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operating expenditure (OPEX) budgets for the Process area, ensuring alignment with site and corporate business objectives, financial expectations, and operational priorities.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with the Operations Manager and technical personnel on process engineering activities, plant equipment selection, and production scheduling to support safe, efficient, and coordinated plant operations.
  • Performance Management & Reporting: Develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for Process and Operations teams to monitor performance, track progress against objectives, and drive accountability. Clearly and transparently communicate plant objectives, operational performance, and business results to all levels of the organization and external stakeholders, as required.




Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mineral Process, Metallurgical, Chemical, or Mining Engineering or related field; Masters level degree or equivalent preferred;
  • Minimum of 10+ years of mineral processing experience with broad management responsibilities;
  • Self-directed and able to take leadership role on many projects;
  • In-depth technical knowledge of oxide ore metallurgy process with emphasis on heap leaching and gold/silver extraction methodologies;
  • Strong computer skills (i.e., MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint);
  • Written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking, data analysis, problem solving and time management;
  • Ability to set clear objectives and goals, monitor progress, measure performance and evaluate results;
  • Possess strong leadership in the areas of health, safety and environmental stewardship;
  • Experience in leading and building teams
