We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Client's team. In this role, the successful candidate will be part of the multi-disciplinary team performing front-end engineering design. You will work closely with colleagues from other engineering disciplines, along with engineering firms, external consultants, and other stakeholders to contribute to the success of the company.


Safety:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate work related to mechanical engineering in mining projects, applying judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Perform work involving conventional engineering practices but may include a variety of complex features.
  • Apply general knowledge of precedents in mining systems and familiarity with a wide variety of principles and practices related to mining.
  • Coordinate departmental and divisional project studies and report preparation assignments.
  • Solve difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Devise new approaches to problems encountered.
  • Execute complex assignments related to mechanical design in mining projects, utilizing advanced techniques and contributing to the development of new or improved processes, equipment, and/or technological methods.
  • Direct coordination with clients and other external contacts.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff members.
  • Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel.
  • Responsible for project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Lead project kickoff, including scope of work development, site investigation, data collection, project budgeting, project scheduling, and project setup.
  • Provide design oversight and project coordination during the design phase, including interface with client personnel, progress reporting, budget updates, and forecasting.
  • Coordinate with the site manager during the construction phase to respond to RFIs and questions.
  • Coordinate with Department Managers to assign an engineering team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited curriculum.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in mechanical engineering, with exposure to mining projects.
  • Previous consulting engineering experience and a professional engineering license are strongly preferred.
  • Project development and project management experience is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously, frequently within an aggressive and compressed schedule.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, while maintaining project schedules and achieving target due dates.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical questions and identify gaps or opportunities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of business and management principles.
  • Thorough understanding of materials and supplies used in the company.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
