Role Intro

A rare chance to join a well-backed AI startup early on in their journey, building for biochemical engineering. You'll join a tech team of 15, shipping end to end product features in TypeScript (React, Node, GraphQL). This is a technical & complex product.

The team is senior-heavy, so this is a good opportunity for an engineer in the earlier stages of their career (2-7 years experience) with the right background to come in and grow.

About Us

We're a well-funded, product-led startup building production-ready AI for the chemicals industry (food and beverage, pharmaceutical, construction & more). Intelligent & down to earth team of 15.

We prioritise impact over ceremony: weekly standup, minimal meetings, more ownership. Engineers take features from problem to production, including quality & even some product decsions. Recent larger customer wins mean we're scaling the core product and back-end workflows.

About You

We're looking for a product-minded Full-Stack Engineer with back-end depth and strong TypeScript fundamentals. This role suits someone who's been working in an AI-native software company (i.e. RelevenceAI, Heidi Health, Canva, or similar) and wants to take on a founding engineer role with more scope.

• You thrive in lean startup environments and are comfortable with ambiguity
• You communicate and collaborate well with engineering, product, and sometimes customers
• You're proactive & resourceful with bias to action. You can unblock yourself but know when to ask for help

Our challenges require sound engineering judgement, algorithmic thinking, and a shipping mindset.

Skills and Experience

• We’re looking for strong software fundamentals; you’ve worked on a product that has scaled or in an environment of engineering excellence (ideally both)
• Some experience in our stack: TypeScript, Node.js, React, GraphQL, Postgres

Nice to have:

• NestJS, Next.js, Python, experience with LLMs or ML
• Platform: AWS familiarity and DevOps (CI/CD; exposure to containers/orchestration like Rancher/Kubernetes) is helpful
• Evidence of end‑to‑end delivery: startups, side projects, or shipping meaningful features

Compensation

• On experience; Typical range: AUD $140k–$160k base for mid, or early-senior. We care less about your years’ experience, more about your aptitude.
