We are hiring a Software Engineer for a world-class software company building high-scale communication software and growing its team in Sydney for the first time.

This role is open to all skillsets. The team cares more about strong engineering fundamentals, product judgement and learning ability than a specific language or framework.

This is an existing product with more than 10k B2B users, facilitating real-time communication over the web. It is also a strong use case for modern AI tooling to automate valuable workflows inside the product.

The product brings together calling, messaging, meetings, AI transcripts, summaries, notes and integrations into the tools customers already use. There is serious scale behind it, including more than 20 million calls through the platform and a growing customer base across multiple markets.

The engineering problems are practical and important: WebRTC, call quality, uptime, integrations, data accuracy, automation and product experience. The team is sharp, thoughtful and low ego. They are looking for people with the right mix of attitude and capability.

What you'll do

• Build product features across communication, workflow automation and integrations
• Improve backend systems, reliability, performance and product experience
• Work on WebRTC, call quality, uptime and scale-related engineering problems
• Help turn calls and meetings into useful automated workflows
• Make practical technical trade-offs in a high-ownership product environment

About you

• Bring strong backend or full-stack product engineering experience
• Work confidently with TypeScript, JavaScript or similar modern product stacks
• Have interest in WebRTC, communication systems, scale or reliability
• Communicate clearly and operate with high initiative and strong follow-through
• Work well without heavy structure
• Bring a Computer Science, Mathematics or Science/Engineering degree from a top university
