As Muma continues to grow, it is seeking an Operational Controller who will lead key financial functions—including general accounting, cost accounting, ERP (Epicor Kinetic) management, and corporate compliance—while supporting day‑to‑day operations and contributing to the company’s long‑term operational and production‑focused financial decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Lead full month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure all bookkeeping and financial records are audit‑ready.
- Conduct job costing, variance analysis, labour rate review, and overhead absorption calculations.
- Analyze production results to identify profit drivers, issues, and improvement opportunities.
- Support quoting activities by reviewing costing assumptions and providing financial insights where required.
- Deepen the organization’s understanding of operational financial performance through accurate, detailed cost data.
- Manage accounting‑related ERP transactions including production entries, material allocations, labour bookings, and inventory adjustments.
- Investigate discrepancies in shop‑floor data and collaborate directly with supervisors and operators to resolve issues.
- Ensure ERP (Epicor Kinetic) data accuracy so financial outputs reflect real operational performance.
- Partner with production teams to troubleshoot ERP usage and continuously optimize end‑to‑end data flow.
- Support SR&ED documentation, claims, and external filings.
- Oversee grant applications, eligibility tracking, and reporting.
- Monitor CRA updates and ensure timely response to information requests to avoid compliance risks.
- Manage financial aspects across related entities (e.g., holding companies, property entities) as required.
- Increased involvement on the production floor to understand processes, identify efficiency opportunities, and strengthen costing accuracy.
- Expand job‑costing sophistication through deeper analysis, improved standards, and better integration with ERP data.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
- Progressive accounting/finance experience in small or medium‑sized manufacturing, with strong shop‑floor awareness.
- Expertise in general and cost accounting, including job costing, labour analysis, overhead allocation, and production‑based financial cycles.
- Proficiency with Epicor (Kinetic preferred) or similar ERP systems, with the ability to learn integrated platforms quickly.
- Experience with SR&ED, government grants, or CRA interactions is an asset.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze and clearly present financial information.
- Demonstrated ability to balance daily transactional work with broader operational and strategic thinking.
- Independent, proactive, and self‑directed, with strong accountability and problem‑solving ability.
