About The Controller
The Controller will play a critical role in establishing and leading LD Cellular’s financial operations, ensuring the company has accurate, timely, and actionable financial insights to guide strategic decision-making. As a newly created position, this role offers the opportunity to build from the ground up, designing and implementing the financial systems, processes, and controls needed to support the company’s continued growth.
Working closely with ownership and external advisors, including MNP and financial institutions, the Controller will take a hands-on approach to structuring the company’s financial foundation. This includes developing reporting frameworks, improving visibility into performance and profitability, and ensuring that financial practices align with the company’s evolving operational needs. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment and enjoy creating clarity and structure within a growing organization. Success in this role will also depend on building strong relationships across the business with the owner, operations team, external partners, and banking contacts to establish trust, enhance collaboration, and enable informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight and Reporting
· Manage all financial operations, including monthly reporting, loan applications, and banking relationships
· Oversee and improve reporting structures to ensure clarity and relevance for management and external stakeholders
· Track and reconcile inventory value and quantities throughout the full product lifecycle, including returns
Strategic Financial Guidance
· Analyze financial performance and provide actionable recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency
· Collaborate directly with ownership to identify and implement changes that support business growth and sustainability
· Act as a strategic business partner and trusted advisor to the owner, providing insight and support across both financial and operational areas of the business
Process and System Development
· Develop and implement financial systems, controls, and reporting processes that improve organization, visibility, and efficiency
· Ensure financial reporting is understandable and actionable for management and external partners
· Identify and streamline operational processes that connect finance with inventory management, logistics, and e-commerce functions
Banking and Financing
· Act as the main point of contact for banks and financial institutions
· Prepare and submit financial documents for funding requests, loan applications, and periodic reviews
Bookkeeping and Accounting Oversight
· Supervise day-to-day bookkeeping activities and ensure accuracy in all financial records
· Provide direction, mentorship, and support to the existing bookkeeper
Managerial and Staff Support
· Support ownership in analyzing benefits, staff engagement, and general administrative initiatives
· Assist with implementing benefits programs and coordinating staff activities and recognition events
· Contribute to broader business operations, helping shape company culture, support hiring decisions, and strengthen communication across the team
· Participate in key planning discussions, helping translate business ideas into actionable financial and operational strategies
Skills and Qualifications
· CPA designation or equivalent combination of education and finance or accounting experience preferred
· Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting or financial management experience, ideally in a product-based or e-commerce environment
· Strong understanding of inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, and financial analysis
· Excellent organizational skills with the ability to complement management’s strengths in business development
· Demonstrated ability to work independently, proactively manage multiple priorities, and communicate financial concepts clearly
· Proven experience liaising with banks, lenders, and external advisors

The expected salary range for this role is between $100,000 - $140,000, based on skills and experience.
