ABOUT MARDELL FARMS


Mardell Farms is a Saskatchewan‑based grain farming operation focused on building a practical, well‑run, and sustainable business for the long term. We operate a modern grain farm spanning approximately 7,500 acres, using regenerative farming practices to improve soil health, protect the land, and support long‑term productivity.

THE POSITION


The Farm Labourer plays a hands-on, essential role in the day-to-day operations of Mardell Farms, supporting a range of general farm labour and operation tasks.

The ideal candidate is hardworking, reliable, and eager to contribute. Whether you are an experienced farm labourer or someone with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn, Mardell Farms is open to developing the right individual.


PRIMARY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES


Field Operations and Equipment

  • Assist with day-to-day farm operations as directed by the farm owner.
  • Support general labour tasks including yard work and seasonal farm activities.
  • Assist with seeding, spraying, harvest, tillage, and field prep.
  • Support grain handling, storage, and quality control.
  • Assist with basic equipment checks, cleaning, and minor maintenance as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.  


Livestock Support

  • Support the development of a livestock component to the operation as it grows.
  • Assist with feeding, watering, and general care of livestock as applicable.
  • Contribute to the safe and humane handling of animals in accordance with best practices.


Communication and Safety

  • Communicate openly and regularly with the farm owner regarding daily priorities, progress and any concerns.
  • Adhere to all farm safety practices and contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Report equipment issues, hazards or incidents promptly.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proficient in English (required)
  • Previous farm or agricultural experience is an asset; a strong work ethic and willingness to learn will be considered.
  • Experience operating farm machinery is preferred.
  • Valid Class 1A driver’s licence is a strong asset.
  • Experience with or interest in livestock is an asset.
  • Mechanically inclined with basic maintenance skills considered an advantage.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently or as part of a small team.
  • Honest, communicative, and willing to raise issues or ask questions when needed.
  • Physically capable of demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions, including lifting to 50 lbs.
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Rural farm setting.
  • Physical demands include prolonged standing, walking, lifting, climbing and operating equipment.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, and outdoor elements.
  • Fast-paced environment during peak periods; steady and self-directed during off-season.


COMPENSATION

  • $25.00 - $30.00 per hour, based on experience
  • Annual fuel benefit
