THE OPPORTUNITY

We are Skwlāx Group Ltd. (SGL) - the Managing Partner responsible for governance and oversight of for-profit businesses on behalf of its Limited Partner - Skwlāx te Secwepemcúl̓ecw (SteS). As Managing Partner, SGL is seeking experienced, strategic leaders to join the Board of Directors of Skwlāx Resource Management Ltd. (SRM) and help guide the operational, strategic, and financial direction of the company.

SRM provides construction related services activities including forestry, environmental services, civil and infrastructure, capacity support and management, powerline extension and residential, commercial, and industrial construction. The company supports a range of construction and contracting activities, including project delivery, procurement, and risk management within resource-based and industrial environments.

SGL is looking for Directors, which will require commitment to monthly meetings for a two-to-four-year term. Remote/virtual attendance will be accommodated however in person attendance will be required at least once annually.


PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF DIRECTORS

  • Provide operational, strategic, and fiduciary oversight of the company.
  • Support and advise management on project delivery, procurement, and risk management.
  • Challenge assumptions and provide governance-level oversight on major decisions.
  • Contribute to financial oversight, forecasting, and performance management.
  • Support the long-term growth and sustainability of the business.
  • Ensure alignment with Skwlāx values, community priorities, and economic goals.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager in reporting to the Skwlāx Group Ltd., Master Board of Directors.


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

We are seeking candidates with senior-level experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Construction & Project Management – Experience in civil, infrastructure, industrial, or resource-based projects, including familiarity with common delivery models, contracting structures, and risk allocation.
  • Commercial & Financial Oversight – Experience with cost control, estimating, margins, cashflow oversight, and identifying financial risk at both the project and portfolio level.
  • Procurement & Contracting – Experience advising on procurement strategy, tendering, commercial negotiations, and contract management.
  • Risk & Execution Oversight – Experience providing governance-level insight into execution risk, constructability, and operational decision-making.
  • Industrial & Resource Environments – Experience in construction or industrial environments, with understanding of regulatory, safety, and operational realities.


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Strong candidates will also demonstrate:

  • Experience serving on a Board of Directors or in a senior advisory role.
  • Understanding of fiduciary and governance responsibilities.
  • Experience with safety, regulatory compliance, bonding, and insurance.
  • Familiarity with WorkSafeBC, COR compliance, and environmental obligations.
  • Strong commercial judgment, independence of thought, and ability to contribute meaningfully to board-level decisions.
  • Able to be impartial, trustworthy, respect confidentiality, and to identify and avoid conflicts of interest.
  • Possess a positive attitude, promote teamwork, and exemplify the values of SGL and SteS.


TIME COMMITMENT AND COMPENSATION

Directors can expect a time commitment of approximately 8 hours per month, which includes preparation for and attendance at monthly Board meetings.

Directors will receive an honorarium in recognition of their time and contributions and will be reimbursed for reasonable travel and related expenses incurred in support of Board meetings.
