Our client is a well established organization operating in a project based environment in the Victoria area. With a diverse and active portfolio of work, the business supports a range of projects and operations across multiple business lines.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative and hands-on finance team in a Senior Accountant capacity, supporting financial operations across multiple entities. Reporting to senior finance leadership, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial information while contributing to reporting, process improvement, and overall business performance.

Working in a fast-paced environment, you will gain exposure to multi-entity accounting, intercompany activity, and project-related financial processes. You will act as a trusted resource to both finance and operational teams, while also mentoring junior staff and helping to strengthen the finance function. This role is well suited for someone who is looking to take ownership, broaden their experience, and contribute to a growing organization.


Key Responsibilities

·        Complete full cycle accounting across multiple entities, ensuring sound accounting practices

·        Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, including bank, intercompany, AR, AP, and payroll

·        Support month end and year end close processes, including financial reporting and documentation

·        Assist with compliance requirements including tax filings, government reporting, and regulatory obligations

·        Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency

·        Support audits and external reviews through preparation of schedules and documentation

·        Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff

·        Assist with financial analysis and special projects as required


Skills and Qualifications

·        3+ years in a professional accounting role (combination of experience and education is preferred).

·        CPA designation strongly preferred.

·        Civil construction or construction experience and hands-on working knowledge on consolidation considered an asset.

·        Advanced understanding of Canadian financial accounting best practices.

·        Strong problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey financial information to both finance and non finance stakeholders.

·        Demonstrated sense of ownership and accountability, with the ability to take responsibility for deliverables and follow through to completion.

·        Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
