Guiding Responsibilities

Payroll, Benefits & HR Administration:

  • Administer payroll and benefits processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational and legal requirements.
  • Maintain and update personnel records, including payroll data, personal information, leave tracking, and turnover statistics.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and provincial employment laws and regulations.
  • Generate routine HR reports to support operational and planning needs.

Employee Relations:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, procedures, and general information.
  • Communicate with employees regarding workplace expectations, policy updates, and routine performance questions.
  • Support a positive and productive work environment by addressing general employee concerns and promoting engagement.
  • Assist managers with documentation and coordination related to employee relations and performance matters.

Recruitment & Onboarding:

  • Assist in preparing and posting job descriptions and provide administrative support throughout the recruitment process.
  • Support the onboarding process by collecting documentation, preparing orientation materials, and setting up employee files.

Training & Development Support:

  • Coordinate logistics for training sessions, seminars, and employee development initiatives.
  • Track participation in training and maintain related records.
  • Assist in the distribution and tracking of staff development plans and leadership training materials.

Policy & Compliance:

  • Maintain and update HR policies and procedures in accordance with legislation and organizational guidelines.
  • Support health and safety initiatives by organizing training and maintaining compliance documentation.
  • Help ensure workplace practices align with Occupational Health and Safety standards.


Lived & Learned Experience

Required:

  • Knowledge of First Nations culture and traditions, and of systemic issues faced by First Nations people, and of the political and administrative structures of First Nations.
  • Completion of post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources or other business-related program.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an HR administrative role.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation.
  • Full understanding of HR functions and best practices.
  • Proficiency in using computers: Microsoft 365, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and various video conferencing platforms.
  • Must have valid driver license (BC Class 5) and satisfactory driving record.
  • Criminal records check (vulnerable sector).

 

Preferred:

  • Additional training/certification in Payroll Management.
  • Labour Relations certification.
  • Experience as a Skills Development Facilitator.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of working in service of Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples

Salary: $53,923 - $80,884 Annual Salary
