Hosper Mortgage is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee and lead the full financial operations of a growing, multi‑entity mortgage and investment platform. Reporting directly to the founders and working closely with a Fractional CFO, this role is responsible for managing transactional accounting, financial controls, and reporting, while also supporting forecasting, KPI reporting, and financial analysis. The successful candidate will bring structure, strong oversight, and process discipline to a high‑volume, transaction‑driven environment and play a key role in supporting informed decision‑making as the organization continues to scale, with the potential for future progression into a Director of Finance or CFO‑level role.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Lead full‑cycle accounting across multiple entities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, consolidations, and month‑end close
  • Establish, document, and continuously improve accounting processes, policies, and internal workflows
  • Oversee fund accounting, including deferred revenue and complex revenue recognition
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with ASPE and, where applicable, IFRS
  • Prepare private company financial reporting, including KPI development, variance analysis, trend analysis, and portfolio yield reporting
  • Deliver revenue, margin, and profitability analysis to support business decision‑making
  • Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll processes
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning activities
  • Develop and maintain Expected Credit Loss (ECL) analysis for MIC and internal portfolios, including documentation of probability of default and loss severity assumptions
  • Provide business analytics, financial insights, and management commentary to senior leadership
  • Oversee treasury activities, including cash management, bank relationships, covenant monitoring, and working capital management
  • Lead the build‑out and formalization of a scalable treasury function to support organizational growth
  • Coordinate external audit preparation and lead internal audit, assurance, and operational audit activities
  • Design, document, test, and maintain internal controls to strengthen governance and risk management
  • Own Canadian corporate tax compliance and support research related to government grants and subsidies
  • Lead and contribute to cross‑functional projects focused on process automation, cost savings, waste reduction, and the development of advanced financial analytics capabilities

                                                              

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or ACCA designation preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a high-volume, transaction-heavy accounting environment (preferably in fund accounting, investment, or lending).
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and fund accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Mortgage Automator, or similar).
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to prioritise in a fast-paced setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
