Shear Metal Products is a Cambridge-based manufacturer specializing in steel decking, metal wall and roof systems, and sheet metal fabrications. Operating within the fast-paced and competitive building envelope and metal fabrication industry, the company serves a range of commercial and industrial construction needs. Currently seeking a detail-oriented Estimator with expertise in steel deck and metal systems to join the team—someone skilled in drafting, cost estimation, and industry-standard tools like Bluebeam Revu and AutoCAD. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating, drafting experience, and proficiency in key software tools.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide accurate and comprehensive estimates for steel deck and metal wall systems/roof systems projects.
• Review project plans, specifications, and design documents to calculate material and labor costs.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and clients to ensure estimates align with project requirements.
• Utilize software tools such as Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, and Microsoft 365 for analysis and documentation.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and products, particularly insulated metal panels, aluminum panels, and related accessories.
• Assist with drafting and design where required.
• Contribute to the development of cost-effective solutions and value engineering strategies.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma or degree in Architectural Construction Engineering Technology or a related field required.
• Proven experience in construction estimating, with drafting experience required.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, and Microsoft 365 is essential.
• Familiarity with steel decking, metal wall system products, insulated metal panels, aluminum panels, metal roofing systems, and related accessories is highly advantageous.
• Competency in interpreting architectural and structural engineering drawings.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work within tight deadlines.
