Our client is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable members of our community and is now seeking an Executive Chef to lead their kitchen operations and elevate their food services program with compassion, creativity, and excellence.

The Role

As Executive Chef, you will oversee culinary operations across multiple sites in Kelowna, ensuring meals are nutritious and thoughtfully prepared, including suitable options for clients with complex and variable health needs. You will lead a diverse kitchen team while balancing quality, efficiency, and financial performance in a fast‑paced, purpose‑driven environment. As a member of the leadership team, the Executive Chef will be a trusted change-maker whose objective is to assess current operations, identify opportunities, make recommendations, and implement new and sustainable practices related to menus, supplier networks, and utilization of resources.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and prepare nutritious, quality menus aligned with our mission and client needs.
  • Adopt a continuous improvement approach to food services through setting and striving towards improvement targets in menus, yields, and waste reduction.
  • Create policies & procedures for food services department to ensure food safety, regulatory compliance, and alignment with industry best practice.
  • Manage purchasing, inventory, and cost controls within program budget.
  • Develop relationships with local, seasonal, and new suppliers, creating diverse pathways to access nutritious foods for the program.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to accommodate dietary, medical, and cultural needs.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop kitchen staff.
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and safe kitchen environment.


What You Bring

  • Leadership experience as an Executive Chef, Head Chef, or Senior Sous Chef.
  • Proven success managing food services in a multi-site work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and oversee menu and food preparation for 300 or more people.
  • Strong knowledge of current culinary trends with a health focus.
  • Degree in Culinary Arts is preferred.
  • Accountable leader with innovative mindset, drive for efficiencies, and skilled in change management in people-centred environments.
  • Strong understanding of high‑volume or institutional cooking and menu planning for specialized populations.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and people‑management skills.
  • Calm, adaptable leadership style in dynamic environments.
  • Physical fitness including ability to lift/carry up to 50lbs and stand for prolonged periods.
  • Food Safe level 2 certificate.
  • Valid WHMIS (or ability to obtain prior to commencing work).
  • Must be able to clear a Criminal Record Check for vulnerable sector.
  • A valid BC driver’s license (or ability to obtain).
