2‑Year Maternity Leave Contract
Springer Group of Companies is a well‑established, family‑owned real estate investment and development organization based in Kingston, Ontario. The organization manages a diverse portfolio of assets and operates with a long‑term, hands‑on ownership approach, emphasizing financial discipline, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth.
Reporting directly to ownership, the Financial Controller will oversee the full accounting function and play a key role in maintaining the financial health of the organization. This position is responsible for financial reporting, payroll, tax compliance, cash management, and team leadership, while working closely with external advisors to support ongoing operations and strategic initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting across multiple entities.
Prepare and review quarterly financial statements and support year‑end accounting processes.
Maintain general ledger integrity, intercompany balances, and corporate records.
Manage corporate tax filings including T2s, T3s, T5s, and partnership returns, as well as quarterly tax installments.
Oversee HST, EHT, WSIB reporting and annual reconciliations.
Act as the primary point of contact for CRA correspondence, audits, and notices of assessment.
Oversee bi‑monthly payroll processing, including T4s, ROEs, employee remittances, and garnishments.
Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, payroll changes, benefits administration, and employee records.
Approve online payments, electronic workflows, and daily cheque runs.
Manage banking relationships, financing renewals, lender reporting, and cash management activities.
Track and administer GICs, mortgages, and other financing instruments.
Lead and delegate work across the accounting team, including daily prioritization and workload planning.
Maintain an accurate organizational chart and support team development initiatives.
Manage accounting systems and tools, including Yardi and related subscriptions.
Liaise with external partners including accountants, lawyers, auditors, banks, and property development partners.
Provide financial analysis, reporting, and ad hoc insights to ownership as required.
