Principal 5G Location Algorithms Engineer
We are seeking a brilliant and innovative engineer to help advance the core algorithms behind an industry-leading real-time positioning platform. As a Principal 5G Location Algorithms Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing advanced signal processing and location estimation algorithms that enable precise real-world positioning using 5G and other radio signals. This role is instrumental in shaping the company's future IP portfolio and product roadmap, working alongside a collaborative, cross-functional team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop algorithms to extract fine-timing and spatial data from noisy 5G radio signals.
- Prototype and evaluate enhancements to existing location estimation methods.
- Innovate and contribute to a growing patent and intellectual property portfolio.
- Build and validate signal processing models using MATLAB and Python.
- Partner with software engineering teams to deploy and integrate algorithmic solutions into production systems.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field—or equivalent research experience—focused on radiolocation or radionavigation.
- Strong understanding of OFDM, Zadoff-Chu sequences, and parameter estimation techniques for radio signals.
- Expertise in time-based location techniques.
- Proficiency in MATLAB and Python for algorithm development.
- Collaborative and team-oriented mindset, with a readiness to contribute in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Linux command-line tools and Linux-based development workflows.
- Familiarity with radio physical layer concepts.
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Programming skills in C.
- Exposure to cellular networks, radios, and physical-layer signal processing.
- Background in cellular network planning, drive testing, or propagation modeling.
- Experience in SIGINT, electronic warfare, GNSS/GPS, or radar systems.
- Familiarity with the Erlang programming language.
