Sr Systems Integration Engineer (HIL)
San Francisco, California, United States
Apply for this job

We're hiring a Senior Systems Integration Engineer (Hardware-in-the-Loop) for a fast-growing autonomous vehicle and Physical AI company in San Francisco that deploys real autonomous systems in live production environments.

In this role you'll build and own the hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test benches that validate the autonomy stack off-vehicle, so every software change is proven on a reliable, production-grade bench before it reaches the fleet. This is a hands-on, lab-first role for an engineer who has built and debugged test benches for AV or robotics systems and has worked directly with lidar, radar and cameras.

What you'll do

  • Design, build and commission HIL test racks bringing together compute, vehicle interfaces, harnesses, wiring and sensors, from first architecture to a finished, documented bench
  • Own the benches end to end and keep them stable inside CI/CD; bench uptime is your key metric
  • Simulate vehicle systems not on the bench (CAN, CAN FD, Automotive Ethernet traffic, power and drive-by-wire states) and replay recorded sensor data so on-road events become repeatable bench tests
  • Lead root-cause debugging of system-level failures across lidar, radar, cameras, sensor timing, harnessing and compute, and turn findings into design fixes
  • Continuously improve bench tooling and automation, and write clear documentation so autonomy, embedded and vehicle teams can self-serve

What we're looking for

  • 4–6 years as a systems integration, HIL or test systems engineer at an autonomous vehicle or robotics company
  • Hands-on experience building and debugging HIL / test benches
  • Direct experience with lidar, radar and camera sensors
  • Vehicle networks: CAN, CAN FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, restbus simulation, DBC/LDF
  • Python and C/C++; ROS / rosbag; CI/CD
  • Electrical engineering background preferred

Nice to have

  • GMSL / FPD-Link camera links, PTP/gPTP time sync
  • Wire harness design, schematic capture, fault injection
