Job Purpose:
The Project Superintendent is responsible for managing all subcontractors and overseeing field staff on the job site. This role ensures the smooth execution of all activities, including job site safety, quality control, scheduling, and communication with architects and consultants on field-related issues. The Project Superintendent reports directly to the Project Manager.
Essential Functions:
• Manage job site safety, quality, and schedules from pre-construction to closeout.
• Champion safety culture and ensure compliance with standards for both the project team and subcontractors.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager, architects, and consultants on field-related issues.
• Represent our client professionally on all occasions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinate the project schedule to ensure timely completion of all necessary tasks.
• Communicate all job site logistics, issues, change orders, and other challenges with the project management team.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and governmental agencies.
• Utilize project management and scheduling software efficiently.
• Ensure code compliance and manage project documents, including RFI’s, ASI’s, and as-builts.
• Manage site logistics, daily job site walks, and subcontractor coordination.
• Create and enforce a site-specific emergency action plan.
• Conduct site meetings, safety audits, and daily walks, while actively controlling quality and project costs.
• Ensure site cleanliness, security, and compliance with environmental regulations.
• Foster a “safety first” environment, ensuring OSHA compliance and attending monthly safety meetings.
• Support the company across various needs as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required Education and Experience:
• 3-5 years’ experience as a Lead Foreman, Assistant Superintendent, or Project Superintendent.
• Strong computer skills with the ability to learn construction management software.
• Deep knowledge of construction practices and best methods.
• Strong interpersonal skills, poise, and diplomacy.
• Analytical, organized, with multitasking and problem-solving abilities.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to lift 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to work safely over uneven terrain, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather.
• Ability to wear personal protective gear for extended periods.
Preferred Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• OSHA 30-hour certification (or willingness to complete within 3 months).
• CPR certification and knowledge of acceptable site practices including safety and health regulations.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to ascend/descend ladders and scaffolds, work in confined spaces, and near loud equipment.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs regularly, traverse uneven terrain, and wear protective gear most of the day.
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
