Position Level: Mid- to Senior-Level Project Manager

About the Opportunity

Our client is a family-owned underground utility contractor specializing in water main, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure across the Piedmont Triad. Our client is known for a safety-first culture, a tight-knit team, strong technical controls, and a long-standing reputation for quality work.

They are looking for an experienced Project Manager to own municipal and commercial underground infrastructure projects from initial handover through final closeout. The ideal candidate brings a strong project management foundation, sharp financial controls, and proficiency with modern construction technology and software systems.

Preference will be given to candidates with direct wet utilities experience (water main, sanitary sewer, storm drain). Candidates with a strong general contractor background managing large-scale civil or commercial projects are also encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do

  • Full Project Ownership: Oversee underground utility projects from pre-construction setup through closeout, actively managing timelines, quality, and deliverables.
  • Financial & Project Controls: Drive rigorous job costing, budget tracking, change order management, procurement, and accurate monthly progress billings.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for daily coordination with field superintendents, municipal inspectors, utility authorities, engineers, and developers.
  • Project Administration: Manage submittals, RFIs, material procurement schedules, utility permits, and contractual documentation.
  • Field & Office Synergy: Work closely with on-site crews and superintendents to ensure projects adhere to plans, specs, municipal standards, and safety protocols.

What You Bring

  • Wet Utilities Track Record: Demonstrated experience managing wet utility projects (water mains, sanitary sewer, storm drainage), or significant project management experience with a general contractor overseeing large-scale civil, infrastructure, or commercial projects.
  • Software & Computer Literacy: Proficiency with construction management software, estimating tools, scheduling software, and standard office suites (Microsoft 365, Excel, PDF editing tools).
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong skills in blueprint reading, specification analysis, job costing, trench safety, and local municipal utility standards.
  • Education (Preferred): Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • License: Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $100,000–$130,000+ base, depending on experience, plus a performance bonus
  • Company Vehicle: Company car or truck provided
  • Retirement: 401(k) with a 4% company match
  • Schedule: On-site 5 days/week with flexible Fridays
  • Culture: A direct, low-bureaucracy, family-oriented environment where your contributions drive the company's growth and success
