Position Overview

The Lead Construction Superintendent directs all on-site construction activities and works closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Assistant Superintendents, field staff, and subcontractors. This role drives safe, on-time, on-budget project delivery while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Position Scope

• Lead all on-site construction activities from mobilization through closeout
• Deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards
• Mentor, develop, and manage Project Engineers and Assistant Superintendents
• Support business development and client relationship initiatives as needed

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Participate in preconstruction efforts, including trade coordination, takeoffs, and constructability reviews
• Develop, manage, and audit master project schedules using scheduling software
• Lead training sessions and contribute to company-wide knowledge sharing
• Participate in industry associations and business development initiatives
• Review, approve, and manage submittals, shop drawings, and subcontractor documentation
• Manage general conditions budgets, including labor, tools, trailers, and temporary facilities
• Make proactive budget and schedule decisions to protect project outcomes
• Coordinate directly with utility providers and third-party stakeholders
• Identify schedule risks early and develop recovery plans
• Build and maintain strong relationships with city inspectors and regulatory authorities
• Create, implement, and manage project-specific and general quality control checklists
• Mentor, coach, and evaluate direct reports to support professional growth
• Attend and lead third-party inspections, including testing, ADA, and green building reviews
• Maintain consistent communication with owners and design teams
• Drive punch list completion and manage project closeout
• Perform quantity takeoffs and support scope reviews as needed
• Develop subcontractor scope documentation and manage scope reviews
• Partner with the Project Manager to develop and manage the CPM schedule
• Initiate RFIs, safety notices, delay notifications, and back charges
• Prepare accident reports and lead incident response efforts
• Maintain three-week look-ahead schedules aligned with the CPM
• Maintain daily photo documentation and weekly as-built drawings
• Manage jobsite trailers, temporary facilities, and material deliveries
• Lead pre-install meetings and daily foreman stand-up meetings
• Enforce zero-tolerance safety policies and remove violators from the site
• Lead safety orientations, inspections, and coordinate with third-party safety inspectors
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
• 12+ years of construction superintendent experience
• 12+ years of leadership experience
• Proven success leading projects valued at $20M+
• Deep expertise in ADA compliance, utilities, energy systems, steel, HVAC, and complex building systems
• Mastery of construction methods across multiple project types and scales
• Proficiency in Procore, Microsoft Office Suite, and MS Project
• Strong command of subcontractor agreements and scope documentation
• In-depth knowledge of AHJ inspection requirements and OSHA compliance
• Ability to lead OSHA inspections with confidence
• Expert-level blueprint, specification, and contract document comprehension
• Strong communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skills
• Ability to multitask and make decisive, proactive judgments

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $147,000 – $175,000 (based on experience)
