Senior Claims Adjuster

Asbestos, Pollution & Health Hazards (APH)

Reports To:  Head of Claims

Department:  Claims, APH

Location:  Fully remote, US-based, with the ability to work Eastern Standard Time hours

Compensation:  $80,000 to $110,000 base, commensurate with experience and licensing footprint

Type:  Full-time; backfill, immediate start

THE OPPORTUNITY

Harrison Gray Search is partnering with a growing specialty insurance and reinsurance business in the global Property & Casualty market to identify an experienced Senior Claims Adjuster to join its Asbestos, Pollution & Health Hazards (APH) team. This is a backfill of an existing seat, the hiring manager is ready to move quickly, and the interview process is deliberately lean: one conversation with the hiring manager and the department head, followed by an offer for the right candidate.

Our client operates in the global insurance and reinsurance market with a dedicated focus on the Property & Casualty space. The APH team handles a specialized book of asbestos, pollution, and health hazards claims that demands careful investigation, disciplined documentation, and strong independent judgment. This is a seat for a seasoned adjuster who can carry complex files end to end and be productive quickly.

THE WORK

You will investigate insurance claims, evaluate damages, and determine coverage eligibility across a specialized General Liability and Property Liability book weighted toward asbestos, pollution, and health hazards exposures. You will review and analyze policy documents, claim forms, and supporting documentation, and you will communicate directly with policyholders, witnesses, and third-party experts to gather the information needed to assess each file.

You will negotiate settlements with policyholders, claimants, and their representatives, and you will collaborate with legal and medical professionals on the more complex losses that are typical of an APH book. You will document the claims process thoroughly and accurately in accordance with company guidelines, and you will deliver strong service to policyholders and stakeholders, addressing inquiries and concerns in a timely, professional manner.

As a senior member of the team, you will also mentor and support junior claims adjusters through hands-on guidance, case review, and day-to-day training.

WHO YOU ARE

You are a seasoned Property & Casualty claims adjuster who has handled a wide range of General Liability losses, from trip and fall to employers liability and occupational disease, along with Property Liability matters that include both first party and third party seepage and pollution exposures. You are comfortable managing complex files independently, you work well with both internal teammates and external parties, and you bring a flexible mindset that lets you take on new types of losses as the book evolves.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Minimum of five years of claims handling experience in the Property & Casualty space
  • Demonstrated experience handling a range of General Liability losses, including trip and fall, employers liability, and occupational disease
  • Property Liability experience, including first party and third party seepage and pollution liabilities
  • Direct exposure to asbestos, pollution, and health hazards claims a strong plus
  • A flexible approach and willingness to expand coverage knowledge across new lines of loss
  • Ability to work independently while also partnering effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and the broader Microsoft Office suite
  • Adjuster licenses in multiple states a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

LOCATION AND SCHEDULE

This role is fully remote anywhere in the United States, provided the candidate is able to work Eastern Standard Time hours to align with the team and client-facing schedule.

INTERVIEW PROCESS

An initial conversation with Harrison Gray Search, followed by a single interview with the hiring manager and the department head. An offer follows quickly for the right candidate.

WHY THIS OPPORTUNITY

  • Specialized APH book inside a growing global Property & Casualty business with ambitious expansion plans
  • Fully remote, with EST schedule alignment
  • Senior-level seat with real file ownership and mentorship responsibilities, not a first-notice-of-loss role
  • Lean, fast-moving interview process: one interview with the hiring manager and department head, then an offer for the right candidate
