Tax Manager (5+ Years experience, CPA)
Summary
Primary tax professional on multi-disciplinary client teams delivering integrated tax and financial planning to HNW families, closely held businesses, and family investment entities. Owns review, client communication, and engagement execution. Big 4 and family office exposure strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary tax professional in a multi-disciplinary client service team implementing and delivering integrated tax and financial planning.
• Provide technical tax expertise for business restructuring, acquisitions, and dispositions to achieve tax-efficient outcomes.
• Review individual, partnership, S-corporation, gift, trust, and estate tax returns; ensure technical accuracy and adherence to firm standards.
• Manage delivery of tax compliance and planning to clients and engagement teams; set timelines, allocate work, and clear review notes.
• Respond to inquiries from taxing authorities; draft responses and manage audits/notices.
• Develop, motivate, and train associates on tax-related matters; provide real-time coaching and formal feedback.
• Develop tools and process improvements to more effectively and efficiently deliver tax services to clients.
• Identify planning opportunities: SALT residency, NIIT, QSBS, charitable planning, wealth transfer, and investment partnership allocations.
• Coordinate with internal wealth advisors, outside counsel, and external accountants to drive consistent client outcomes.
Qualifications
• CPA required; Masters of Taxation or equivalent preferred.
• 5–8 years of public accounting environment experience; 1+ years at management level.
• Significant experience in tax compliance, research, and planning for HNW individuals.
• Significant experience with flow-through entity compliance and planning; investment partnerships a plus.
• Corporate tax experience a plus.
• Proven project management across complex multi-entity structures; strong review and communication skills.
• High-net-worth client mix and/or Big 4 background strongly preferred.
Compensation
• Base salary: $100,000–$150,000
• Bonus: 11% of base
