FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

About the Opportunity
Harrison Gray Search has partnered with a leading electrical contractor to assist in finding an experienced Construction Survey Technician. This company offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, field-driven environment with a strong focus on precision, safety, and career growth. The CST team is growing, with a deep backlog of large-scale work ahead, including multiple data center projects starting over the coming months and hospital and pharmaceutical projects slated for 2027.
Position Overview
This is a hands-on CST role with added project coordination responsibility. In addition to executing precise field layout using Trimble and other survey technology, this person will serve as the on-site point person for CST efforts on assigned projects: setting priorities and deadlines, overseeing the work of other CSTs (including partner crews), clearing roadblocks, and supporting operations so field leadership doesn’t have to manage layout logistics directly. Key Responsibilities
- Perform field layout using Trimble survey equipment and technology
- Act as point person for CST efforts on assigned jobs, coordinating what needs to be done and by when
- Oversee and support other CSTs on site, including internal staff and partner/sister-company layout crews, to keep work on schedule
- Troubleshoot Trimble equipment, software, and workflow issues for the field team
- Identify and remove roadblocks so layout work can continue without delay
- Partner with operations and project teams so they are not burdened with managing layout efforts directly
- Verify and document layout points to ensure accuracy
- Proactively communicate site conflicts, information needs, and risks to deliverables, with clear context, deadlines, and a recommended path forward
- Maintain survey equipment and adhere to all safety protocols
- Track progress, updates, and project blockers in Monday.com
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven CST/field layout experience with Trimble, strong enough to train and troubleshoot for others
- Experience coordinating or leading field crews, or managing project schedules and deliverables
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and coordinated models
- Solid knowledge of construction processes and job site operations
- Timely, effective communication, both verbal and written; comfortable setting expectations and following up
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and lead by example in a team environment
- Professional and dependable work ethic
Work Environment
- Primarily field-based role
- Regular exposure to active construction sites and varying weather conditions
- Large, complex projects including data centers, healthcare, and pharmaceutical facilities
Requirements

- Hands-on Trimble layout experience (required)
- Prior construction field experience (required)
- Lead, foreman, or project coordination experience (preferred)
- OSHA 10 (preferred)

- Paid Time Off (PTO)
- Training, mentoring, and a defined path toward Lead CST roles
