 Position Overview

Our client seeking an accomplished Senior Paralegal to join our Fortune 100 insurance company's legal department. In this vital role, you'll provide sophisticated litigation support within our client's Trial Division (NTD), a robust legal organization with approximately 40 offices spanning six regions across the United States. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated professional who thrives in a dynamic environment, possesses strong technological aptitude, and demonstrates exceptional organizational skills to support civil litigation matters for both commercial and personal lines clients.


 About Our Legal Environment

Our client's Trial Division handles a substantial volume of diverse cases that demand innovative thinking, effective collaboration, and a highly organized approach to case management. Our Senior Paralegals operate with moderate to low guidance while maintaining a working knowledge of property and casualty insurance defense and/or subrogation law. You'll be supporting legal teams representing clients under both commercial and personal lines insurance policies in matters that range from routine to highly complex litigation.


 Key Responsibilities

* Provide comprehensive pre-trial and trial support for litigation matters of moderate to high complexity

* Prepare, review, file, and ensure proper service of pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and subpoenas

* Review and prepare documents for production in response to discovery requests

* Analyze and draft responses to incoming discovery demands

* Review and analyze medical records, creating detailed chronologies when appropriate

* Conduct legal research and complete writing assignments, including preparation of medical chronologies and deposition summaries for both fact and expert witnesses

* Take initiative to advance case files toward trial or resolution with minimal supervision

* Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, and meetings with clients, counsel, and expert witnesses

* Provide administrative support to trial teams by retrieving information from document management systems

* Assemble exhibits, binders, and appendices for depositions, court filings, hearings, and trials

* Maintain working knowledge of court procedures, monitor court dockets, and retrieve essential case information

* Prepare case file documentation and discovery impact reports

* Maintain strict confidentiality regarding attorney-client privilege, trial strategies, ethics rules, and client identities

* Develop in-depth knowledge of each file assigned to your trial team(s)

* Apply organizational skills to effectively coordinate workflow and support overall litigation strategy

* Potentially assist Managing Attorney with support staff workflow coordination

* Provide mentorship and training to new or less experienced Paralegals and Legal Assistants as needed


 Qualifications and Experience

* Typically 5+ years of experience as a paralegal with proven success in civil litigation environments

* Undergraduate studies in business administration, insurance, or related field preferred

* Paralegal certification strongly preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered

* Comprehensive knowledge of law office operations, practices, and procedures

* Experience with court filing protocols and scheduling procedures across various jurisdictions

* Proficiency with federal and state e-filing and e-Court systems

* Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite and case management databases (Legal Files experience preferred)

* Understanding of insurance practice civil defense in state courts and agencies

* Familiarity with both personal and commercial lines insurance policies

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with attorneys, court personnel, clients, and claims staff

* Superior organizational abilities with meticulous attention to detail

* Technological adaptability and willingness to learn new systems and processes

* Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, multitask efficiently, and work independently

* Skill in designing and maintaining filing and follow-up systems

* Ability to research information and determine the applicability of legal action

* Commitment to compliance with all corporate and our client's policies and procedures


 Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to a Managing Attorney within our client's Trial Division.
