Position Overview:
The Audio Visual Engineer is responsible for providing technical engineering and project support throughout the implementation and delivery of commercial audio-visual systems. This role works closely with project managers, field technicians, clients, and other project stakeholders to ensure AV systems are installed, configured, tested, and delivered according to the approved design and project requirements.
The ideal candidate has hands-on knowledge of commercial AV systems and the ability to translate engineering designs into successful field installations. The Audio Visual Engineer will support projects from the point of award through installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, documentation, and project closeout across Mason Technologies' New York and Southeast regions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical engineering support throughout the installation and implementation of commercial AV systems.
- Review approved AV designs, drawings, equipment lists, scopes of work, and project documentation to ensure accurate execution.
- Work closely with project managers and field technicians to support the successful installation of AV systems.
- Review system designs and identify potential installation or technical issues before and during project execution.
- Support AV system configuration, programming, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Assist with the integration and configuration of conferencing systems, displays, audio systems, DSPs, control systems, video distribution, and networked AV technologies.
- Conduct site visits, project walkthroughs, and field inspections to verify installation conditions and system requirements.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and develop solutions in collaboration with field teams, manufacturers, project managers, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with manufacturers and vendors to resolve technical questions, equipment issues, and system integration challenges.
- Review and support equipment substitutions, design changes, and field modifications as required.
- Assist with system testing and commissioning to verify that equipment and systems perform according to project requirements.
- Support the development and maintenance of as-built drawings, system documentation, and other project closeout materials.
- Participate in client walkthroughs, training sessions, and turnover activities as needed.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to field technicians when required.
- Maintain clear and accurate engineering documentation throughout project execution.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and engineering assignments while meeting established deadlines.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience working with commercial audio-visual systems in an engineering, installation, commissioning, or technical support capacity.
- Strong understanding of commercial AV technologies, including signal flow, DSPs, control systems, displays, conferencing systems, video distribution, and networked AV.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and commissioning commercial AV systems.
- Familiarity with AV control systems, DSP configuration, audio systems, video systems, and collaboration technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret AV drawings, signal flow diagrams, rack elevations, system schematics, and equipment schedules.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office is preferred.
- Experience with manufacturer platforms and technologies such as Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Shure, Logitech, Samsung, LG, Sony, Barco, or similar systems is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose technical issues in the field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, project managers, technicians, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
- CTS certification is strongly preferred.
- Ability to travel throughout the New York and Southeast regions for project sites, commissioning, troubleshooting, and client support.
Salary: $90,000.00-$100,000.00 per year

This is a remote position with regional travel requirements. Candidates should be located within reasonable proximity to the New York City or Miami/Southeast markets and be available to travel to project sites, client meetings, and company offices as needed.
