Our client, a top fast-growing Canadian public accounting firm, is expanding their team and is looking for a Small Business Group Manager to join their growing practice. This role is ideal for an experienced CPA who enjoys working closely with owner-managed businesses, leading engagement teams, and delivering high-quality client service in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment. The Small Business Group Manager will play an integral role within the firm’s small business advisory practice, with a primary focus on compilation engagements and occasional review engagements. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional client service, managing multiple engagements, meeting strict deadlines, and mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, review, and complete client engagements across a variety of industries independently or as part of a team.
• Manage and review compilation engagements for small business clients.
• Oversee preparation of Notice to Reader financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and profit and loss statements.
• Communicate with clients to confirm engagement timing and identify unusual or non-recurring transactions.
• Collaborate with partners to review timelines, budgets, and engagement expectations.
• Delegate work effectively to associates and review completed files.
• Interpret and apply accounting standards to complex client situations.
• Resolve accounting issues and provide guidance to clients on improving accounting processes.
• Review corporate and personal income tax filings.
• Monitor engagement progress to ensure budgets and deadlines are met.

Required Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
• CPA designation required
• 4+ years of public practice accounting and assurance experience serving a variety of clients
• Strong communication and client relationship skills
• Excellent technical, organizational, and analytical abilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong leadership skills with a focus on coaching and mentoring team members
