Position Overview:
- Our client, a very fast-growing industrial supplier in NW Edmonton is seeking a Sr. Accountant to help take their team to the next level. This opportunity is an operational accounting position with the opportunity to spearhead process and efficiency improvement initiatives across the organization. Responsibilities:
General Accounting & Reporting
- Manage daily accounting activities including AP, AR, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including accruals, deferrals, and adjusting entries.
- Prepare routine account reconciliations, including intercompany and key balance sheet accounts.
- Conduct account analysis, monitor budgets, and prepare financial reports for management.
Accounts Receivable & Collections
- Oversee the full AR cycle: invoicing, payment posting, aging analysis, and customer follow-up.
- Prepare AR aging reports and cash flow forecasts.
- Communicate with customers to resolve billing issues, payment inquiries, and manage collections.
Compliance & Government Filings
- Prepare and submit statutory filings such as GST/HST.
- Ensure internal control compliance and provide support during external audits.
Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Manage inventory costing workflows and ensure accuracy of inventory records.
- Collaborate with operations and production teams to maintain accurate financial data.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with sales, operations, engineering, and finance to ensure accurate documentation and billing.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in financial systems, processes, and reporting.
Process Improvement & Systems Optimization
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and enhance overall process efficiency.
- Improve the quality and depth of financial analysis to support better decision-making across the organization.
- Increase effective utilization of the ERP system, ensuring the team leverages its full capability.
- Strengthen the integration between accounting and manufacturing within the ERP to ensure accurate costing, inventory visibility, and data flow.
Must Have Qualifications:
- 6+ years of accounting experience
- Proven hands-on experience with similar responsibilities
- Experience creating and implementing internal processes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience using accounting and ERP software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, CETEC, or similar systems).
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting or Finance.
